Excellent - I would like information too as I have often planned to visit but have never got round to it.

I do notice that there are several airports - any insights into which is most central or with best transport links etc

thanks

For companionship, it's best to go online. There is at least one "house of boys", but it is pathetic. There are also some hustler bars. Almost all major international arrivals are at Tegel Airport, which is cramped and about 30 years out of date, but convenient enough.

Hmmm it doesnt't sound great - maybe im 80yrs too late and should have visited during the Weimar regime when it seems it was a case of "anything goes"!

I find Europe on the whole very disappointing these days, vastly overpriced and if you want "companionship" the "trade" operate on the principle of doing the least possible for the highest price possible - and frankly most of them have seen better days (so have the customers but thats not the point!)

Maybe I'll continue to give Berlin a miss then - thanks for info anyway.

I find both Berlin airports equally convenient Sch├╢nefeld and Tegel.
Your discount carrierts, EasyJet and Ryan Air, for as long as they are able to continue flying
will use Sch├╢nefeld where as the bigger International carriers will use Tegal.
This is important to bear in mind when you are using different carriers as each facility is
quite a distance from one another.
I find Berlin to be quite reasonable, especially off the tourist beaten track.
The darkroom carverns at Tom's are incredible.
TREIBHAUS is one of the best bathhouses in the world, if you can keep up.
There is a lot available online as well......

Why you not ask somebody living in berlin - like me? I mostly get my boys over myhomo.net (blowjob for 20тВм-30тВм) with adds. In the city near Wittenbergplatz you find a hustlersauna http://gaysaunaclubbrasil.de -there they will find you quickly. You have to deal before the fun starts. Treibhaussauna is only for gymbunnies ( dont touch me-i am so beautiful )- for me only waste of time and money. Gatesauna is mostly for old people and bears and steamsauna-club is more for the hardcore or bareback fans. More informations you can find under www.gaysaunen.de (http://www.gaysaunen.de)

I was in Clubsaunabrasil last year & eventually concluded virtually every young guy in there was a moneyboy, so finding them shouldn't be difficult.

As a small thank you to those of you who offered advice on my trip to Berlin, I would like to offer a brief review of what was a very enjoyable weekend in the German capital.
I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on Kurfuerstenstrasse, about 15 minutes walk from the main gay area of Schoneburg. I chose to stay there because the price, 50 euro per room per night including breakfast, was considerably cheaper than the gay hotels in the area. I was very happy with my choice. The staff were very friendly and there was never a hint of a problem bringing company back to my room.
While I made a quick run around the usual tourist spots like the Berlin Wall, Checkpoint Charlie and the Brandenburg Gate, the main purpose of my trip was to enjoy the company of some sexy young gentlemen. And I can assure you there were plenty to choose from. A quick trawl through the Berlin escorts section on gayromeo will give you a good idea of what I mean. I found four rent boy bars on or near Fuggestrasse, the heart of the gay area - Eldorado, Blue Boy, Pinnochio and Tabasco. For me Tabasco was far and away the most enjoyable. The staff and customers were very helpful and whole place had a very local pub feel about it. As soon as they realised I was new to Berlin I was given the full rundown on the area - the best bars, the best boys and the 'going rate' for company. In the space of 10 minutes I must have been introduced to just about every regular customer in the bar. A regular home from home. A Germanic version of Oscars if you like.
The bar had a very nice selection of freelance boys looking to catch my eye. They were never overly aggressive, the management crack down on that very quickly. Olaf, one of the bar's owners, recommended a nice Polish lad and I was very glad I took his advice. The going rate is between 50 and 100 euro depending on services required, how busy the bar is, how desperate the boy is and the allignment of Earth and Uranus.
Pinnochio bar is next door to Tabasco. Again friendly staff, but a lot less customers and consequently a lot less boys hanging around. Pretty much could be said about Eldorado, situated at the back of the same block.
Blue Boy bar was, however, a different kettle of fish. I've visited some dodgy places in my time, but I've never felt as uncomfortable as I did in this bar. The boys seem to be able to do as they choose and I saw no sign of any control from the management. In the short time I was there I saw two incidents involving boys demanding drinks be bought for them by customers who obviously had no interest in them. The barman ignored both incidents and the customers were left to fend for themselves. Thankfully they seemed to know what they were doing and both incidents petered out after some verbals. A sobering reminder to keep your wits about you.
The best non-rent bar for me was Blond, situated across the street from Pinnochio and Tabasco. Nice modern decor, sexy young staff - one of the waiters was stunning - and even sexier customers. A very pleasant way to spend an hour or two.
Connection, at the far end of Fuggestrasse, seems to be the disco of choice in the area. It was just as I expected, crowded, loud and full of gorgeous young men. Yummy, who needs eardrums? I recognised some cute faces from the rent boy bars, so I don't think finding some company would be very difficult here.
The only sauna I visited was Club Brazil on Kurfuerstenstrasse, just a two-minuted walk from my hotel. The place is huge, clean and the facilities are pretty good. The only thing lacking was customers. I went twice and on both occasions it was pretty quiet. I was assured it does get busy, so maybe I was just unlucky. On both occasions there were some Romanian rent boys hanging around. One of them took my fancy, and while we had some langauge difficulties, I managed to get my tongue around the problem. The going rate seems to be 40 euro there.
I didn't have much luck with restaurants. The worst place I tried was the Chinese restaurant next to my hotel. It's hard to screw up sweet and sour chicken with rice, but they managed it with aplomb. To steal Mick from Cafe Royale's joke, I gave some to my dog and he spent the day licking his arse to get the taste out of his mouth.
Just when I thought I might have to start losing weight, I found a cracking Italian restaurant situated on the opposite corner to Connection bar and disco. Excellent food and reasonably prices.
The weirdest moment of the trip was seeing a giant billboard featuring Tom Cruise in full Nazi regalia staring down at me as I drove in from the airport. The taxi driver told me the film, Valkyrie, was 'sehr gut'. Who was I to argue?

By the way, this was the first time in my life I was proud to have my cock described as 'grosse'.

Tony, thanks for your review - most helpful as I've decided to travel to Berlin in June.

Great to have somewhere to start!

Thanks again

I did not offer any advice, but I did cut and paste your review into my computer. Thank you Tony, very nice review and great suggestions as to where to go and a reasonable place to stay. :salute:

The Holiday Inn sounds like a good option. No doubt they were tolerant of guests? Difficult to imagine them not being in Berlin.
For my last visit, I booked a small apartment via the following agency. You can search by Berlin region & hence pick somewhere right in the middle of the gay area.
EBAB (http://eng.ebab.com/)

I thought Blue Boy was fine, although the bar staff did warn me about certain people there (mostly the Romanians). Last time I picked up a charming East German there.

thanks for the comments z909. there are no problem with guests at the holiday inn, i'm sure they've seen it all down through the years. my comments about the blue boy bar where just based on my one visit. maybe i was unlucky, maybe i caught the bar on a bad night. i'm glad you enjoyed your visit there. the nice thing about berlin is if you don't like one bar you can always pop next door - there are plenty of bars to choose from, and, thankfully, boys as well. :bounce:

I have just returned from Berlin and found Tony's review most helpful in locating where to go.

The whole gay area centres around Nollendorfplatz - be prepared to be in the majority for a change as you will see many pavement cafes with up to 50 seats all filled with gays! There are rubber shops, leather shops, art shops, military wear shops etc. Leather bars, Fetish bars, Nude bars, Fisting bars, but I was most interested in the 4 boy bars which are literally within staggering distance of each other.

The 4 bars - Eldorado, Blue Boy, Pinnochio, and Tabasco I found to all be very friendly. Blue Boy is easily the busiest (it has never closed in 13 years according to the boss), and Eldorado the quietest (no other customers in the 8 visits I made!)
Price-wise be prepared to pay just under 4 Euros for a large beer (500ml) in any of these bars. Be aware also, that in common with much of Europe, very little happens on the scene till around 9 or 10pm. All of these bars are open 16-24 hours a day but they can be empty much of the time)

Because it was busiest I spent most of my time in Blue Boy and met/dealt with all 4 of the barmen (go there and see the barboy Florian - he is so cute) all of whom I found to be very friendly and helpful (to the extent of warning me off one German boy who was allegedly untrustworthy with tourists) - this type of information is invaluable and I appreciate it all the more as they don't have to give it. I also got as friendly with the boss as language difficulties would allow - to the extent that he drove me back to the hotel. I found this to be a great bar with a wide selection of freelance boys from 16-35 (AOC is 16 for info of the small but barking pack of rabid dogs on this board) and with the ones I took I had no problems. he going rate is 50 Euro for a short time and 100 for overnight.

I stayed in a straightforward tourist hotel (50Euro per night room only), about 10 minute stroll from the bars and, very importantly, had NO TROUBLE or comment made on "dragging back" assorted "guests"

Berlin has a long history of decadence and of catering for all tastes but at about 11am one day in Blue Boy I saw something that surprised even me. A Norwegian guy of about 20 stones walked right in and announced loudly "I look for boy for scat fun"- and a boy was produced immediately! Even in Pattaya I think they might struggle with that one.

All in all a very enjoyable trip and when you consider that I could get whatever I wanted in the bars, that the flight was under ┬г80 return and that the flight duration was just over 2hours, then I'll certainly be going back.

If anybody wants any further info pls feel free to msg me.
