Does Domininca Republic have any gay life?

My brother inlaw is thinking of buying some property there and I was just curious as to the gay life,if any.I know Haiti is homophobic,so not expecting much from DR.

Yes, but really visible (very visible) if you know where to look in Santo Domingo. Very studly, macho, Catholic, mostly gay for pay. Actually the main tourist walking avenue in SD is very, very cruisy. This is a hard core place. People will try to cling and be your protector, and you almost kind of need that.
