Quote: Basically looking for a budget, clean place to stay in the Paradise Complex area

TOQ ( John ) i would agree with you that i also would stay at Club oneseven, however this is a good distance from the Paradise area, and i wouldnt class this as a budget place to stay either, as his quote said that, i think thats what he is after.
I think Connect is an OK place to stay if your not expecting good size rooms. The place is clean and food is good. Im not sure on his room prices these days so i cant let you know if they are value for money or not.
I always find the Paradise complex too in your face, ok for an evening but i like to retire away from there for the night. Still everyone likes a different holiday.

If you book Connect avoid the rooms in the Annex, they might be "smelly". I stayed at the Blue Dolphin several times and it really was ok. One Seven is a good choice, too but IMO too far away from "Paradise". BTW Boat Bar with 2 shows every night and a very friendly atmosphere is a MUST

Rendez-Vous Guesthouse (http://www.boontarika.com/) achieves to be both ideally located and quiet ; although being inside Paradise Complex, you will find a very intimate atmosphere as soon as you have entered the place. And it is also quite cheap by Phuket standards.

I haven't been there for some time but I agree with the recommendation of Rendezvous. And at breakfast it serves the best coffee I've had in Thailand.

I have been to Phuket several times over the last 2 years and I wouldn't stay in Paradise if you paid me as there are no swimming pools. Well actually I think one of the places has a small one indoors.

You are going in may when it is stinking hot, I know I was there last may. I require to swim ever afternoon and not at the beach either. I have slight disability with one leg (amputated) so beach not so pleasant for me.

I stay at K.N. Guesthouse. It is fantastic value and just accross the road from the complex but far enough to be outside it. Better value also I think. The rooms are big, very big and clean. Breakfast is included.

The lady owner is lovely and very welcoming. She isn't much ob emails but be patient and she will get back to you.

Kyle, have a look at this

I am going to Phuket for New Year with my guy. I left it until 5 months out to book at KN Guesthouse and I was disappointed that it was full. Now staying further away. I have learnesd my lesson at peak season ... book very very early.

Cheers and good luck,

Krobbie,

What is the policy at this hotel about bringing in a different friend every night?

Rendezvous ( http://www.boontarika.com/ ) is a very good hotel right in the Paradise complex but just off a soi or two from the main action to be reasonably quiet. Connect is right in the middle of said action, and has very good breakfasts ... front rooms can be noisy, and aside from the top front room (if I recall) most of the other rooms are on the small side. Also right across the Soi from Connect you might give some thought to James Dean ( http://www.jamesdeanbar.com/ ).
Siam Palm Hotel ( http://www.siam-palm.com/index1.html ) is down the street about a 7 minute walk from Paradise, and is an excellent hotel with large rooms, spotlessly clean, and cute wait staff in the open-air restaurant.
Club One Seven Hotel (mentioned above ~ http://www.cluboneseven.net/ ) is very gay oriented, but is quite a long walk from Paradise.

Cheers ...

Krobbie,

What is the policy at this hotel about bringing in a different friend every night?

You pay for a double room and in that price is breakfast. Although I never had "overnight" guests, there are some that do. It doesn't seem to bother Nid (owner) or any of the other folk sitting at breakfast. Who knows what they are really thinking and who cares.

If in doubt email Nid and when she's ready she will email back. This could take a week. Just ask the same question ... do you allow overnight guests in the double room? No trouble.

This place is so worth it. Inexpensive and placed with absolute convenience but is actually really quiet as far as street noise goes.

Cheers
