I took this photo back in 2003, not far from Baiyoke tower. If I'm remembering the story correctly it was a fire in a block of apartments. It burned black for a long time before firefighters got to it and the smoke turned lighter until it was finally put out.
Thankfully this isn't something you often see in a crowded city, and I found myself pausing to say a prayer that nobody was injured in the fire. I'm guessing some were, however.
If this had been taken recently the billowing might have drawn a crowd thinking a new smokerтАЩs sidewalk caf├й had opened. :cheers:
