Quick question - what does the I in LGBTI stand for? I know the others, but can't figure this one out.

I stands for Intersex. Sometimes a Q is added too, and that stands for Queer.

Intersex, those born with biological characteristics both of the male and female.

An event only for the most committed of gay activists, I think. :blah5: :blah5: :blah5:
Those here for a quick bonk or for waving it around in the toilets of Silom Complex should avoid.

Why not use the correct term: Hermaphrodite ?

Those here for a quick bonk or for waving it around in the toilets of Silom Complex should avoid.I was hoping for demonstrations of new positions and combinations involving, say, six boys and me (how much more diverse can you get than that and keep it manageable?) but I think I'd be disppointed

Why not use the correct term: Hermaphrodite ?

Because it is not the correct term, at least these days.
The terms hermaphrodite and pseudohermaphrodite, introduced in the 19th century, are now considered problematic as hermaphrodism refers to people who are both completely male and completely female,

Intersexuality is the state of a living thing of a gonochoristic species whose sex chromosomes, genitalia, and/or secondary sex characteristics are determined to be neither exclusively male nor female. An intersex organism may have biological characteristics of both the male and female sexes. Intersexuality is the term adopted by medicine during the 20th century applied to human beings who cannot be classified as either male or female. Intersexuality is also the word adopted by the identitary-political movement, to criticize medical protocols in sex assignment and to claim the right to be heard in the construction of a new one.

Recently watched an intelligent and enjoyable Argentinian film on the subject called XXY. Perhaps most memorable for the scene when a teenage guy thinks he is about to fuck the "girl", only she turns him over at the last minute!

Yes, great movie and it was at the Bangkok International film festival last year. The director did a 'q and a' after the film.

This year one film, 'Otto or up with the Dead', was shown. I can't believe it made it by the Thai censors. In USA it would never have made the 'R' rating. They did require being over 18 to see it.

It won the top film award - the Golden Kinnaree. Not sure, in this case, if a Kinnara would have been more appropriate or not.

I stands for Intersex. Sometimes a Q is added too, and that stands for Queer.

Sometimes lots of others are added too - and the Q can sometimes stand for Questioning (which does appear more logical, as "Queer" would seem to have been already covered).

LGBTTTIQQPPAA: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, Transsexual, Two-Spirited, Intersexed, Queer, Questioning, Pansexual, Polyamorous, Asexual and Allied

The only group apparently excluded are Paraphilias.

And heterosexuals don't make the list either? I've never felt part of a 'gay community' so what I'm supposed to have in common with a Polyamorous or Intersexed person is beyond me. Lesbians were always a bit of a reach too. What on earth is paraphilia?

November 17th, 2008, 03:44
... What on earth is paraphilia?

A paraphilia is a condition involving sex fetishes where a person's sexual arousal and gratification depend on fantasizing about, and engaging in, sexual behavior that is atypical and extreme. A paraphilia can revolve around a particular sex fetish like an object (e.g., children, animals, underwear) or around a particular sex fetish act (e.g., inflicting pain, exposing oneself).
Most of the paraphilias are far more common in men than in women. The focus of a paraphilia is usually very specific and unchanging. For example, for someone who derives sexual pleasure from exposing his genitals, watching others engaging in sexual activity will not generally provide sexual gratification.

A paraphilia is distinguished by a preoccupation with the object or behavior to the point of being dependent on that object or behavior for sexual gratification. In most cases, types of sexual activity outside the boundaries of the paraphilia lose their arousal or satisfaction potential unless the person fantasizes about the paraphilia at the same time.

Although many of the paraphilias seem so foreign or extreme that one could not imagine how the object or behavior can be arousing to anyone, they are easier to understand if one thinks of those behaviors that, in less extreme versions, are quite common and not considered abnormal. For instance, having a partner "talk dirty" occasionally may be a "turn-on" for some people, but when talking dirty is the only way that sexual arousal or satisfaction can occur, it would be considered a paraphilia.

Others want to be bitten, scratched, or spanked, or find that watching their partner undress is highly arousing. Viewing a nude person or watching sexually explicit videos can be arousing for most people. Each of these acts is innocuous unless magnified to the point of psychological dependence.

Padlom, didn't even know there was a wrong 'un! Where's that been hiding? Most men and boys I've know only had the one in back.

Sorry, fatts and others, but I just could not resist a quote from Plautus:

Sorry!

GF, thanks for this example of when your knowledge of Latin is entertaining rather than 'oneupmanship' as it appears to me (as in another thread).
