Doug on Ting Tong has just completed a photo story with the most beautiful photos of life in rural thailand

He has a great way with words and makes this a beautiful tale. Briefly he went with a thai man who he had known for almost 20 years and his adopted 10yo son, to visit a family he had been supporting, but had never met There they met another boy of the same age and the two became extremely close friends

The friendship ceremony at the end between the two young boys is" real kleenex stuff"

it's not true that he had never met the group/child he helps support. He has posted about his other visits there in the past. But typically his previous visits have been for a few short hours rather than several days.

A great reminder there's a lot more to Thailand than beer bars and go-go boys.

The last post especially shows the lovely side of Thai people that we don't always see in the tourist areas.

lonelywombat thanks for the post via TT's. What a heartwarming and humorous piece. I have to admit to eyes leaking at the end. Rural Thailand is a far cry from BKK. I shall find out a little for myself when I go to visit bf ex-wife and daughter at Christmas in Nakhon Sri Thammarat or rather a small village 1.5 hours south of muang.
