Sorry for not getting this up last night, but I hung one on in Sunee catching up with some friends who arrived last week and it was my first chance to do so, after my 4 day trip to Hua Hin.

Many thanks for those of you that nominated me but owing to the fact I am conducting the poll along with my modesty, i will graciously decline. :-)

WOW! This is a huge surprise. I mean, I don't even remember posting all that much this year.

So many people to thank; I don't even know where to begin. There's my whole team at Corner Bar, and Plastic Chairs, and Oud's Cafe: my counselor in all things Thai, Khun Ake. Ake, you rock! It's not like being nominated for Vice President of the USA (Sarah, Baby, call me) or for the Throne of St. Peters, but I would never expected that - not many Jewish boys live in Alaska or get to be Pope but still I aspire.

While I am not at all surprised by the current leader in the poll, I am surprised by the support garnered by some - or, more honestly, one in particular.

Maybe it could have something to do with the dramatic rise in membership since the poll was first mooted: 117 new members in only two weeks (or over 15 times the previous average).

The fact of the matter is that George pursued this poster for close to a year with dozens of invitations to drinks, to dinner for just us two, to get closer and really get to know each other.
I declined opportunities to swap telephone numbers, email addresses etc. and foolishly finally
confirmed my handle to George even though he already was informed, as it is no secret, but also nobody's business but mine. George refused to take numerous hints and countless refusals and now is having a hissy fit. He just doesn't get it that some people just don't like other people and wanting to be someone's friend has to be mutual or it is just stalking and being a pest.
I am well aware that some/many people don't like me and don't want to be my friend or have intimate dinners with. Some find me boring, pretentious, egotisical and a bore.

I thimk the consenseus is that doger by far has more content to his postings while Homiturn has an acidic tast of humor that some relate to and others hate. Only the guys with the IP addresses know for sure, I pissed SDmiles off one time and he found me in Kyrgysstan with in a block of my home, of course the office had 20 or so computers so it was hard to nail down which one.

Gotta admit... it does look dodgy. Especially if this pattern has been repeated in the past.

Maybe the increase in registrations is from guests who finally decided to register because they wanted to vote?

Surest way is to run the poll manually with members responding with a 1 word post. If we see a lot of posts from new members we know it's highly likely to be rigged. Just need someone to tally all the votes! Also means no ongoing updates (unless someone can be bothered!)

Hi gra45, I don't know about fattman shitting it in, as he had some very strong competition, but with the polite way he conducts himself around the forum, along with his willingness to always help other members, especially new ones, I am amazed that he didn't poll more votes than he did. I am even more amazed, in fact I am absolutely fucking gob-smacked, how the member coming third, SGT's one and only cowardly pussy, managed to not only accumulate more votes than fattman, but also more than nominees such as: TOQ, Smiles, Rainwalker, LOB and Kevin Q. As you admit to being a new member gra45, I think it is extremely unfair what you say above. Unless you have been lurking here for a long while before deciding to post, you would have very little knowledge of the members of this forum. Whilst Homintern is not everyones cup of tea, he is a major contributor to the forum, can be extremely helpful when he wishes with his knowledge of Bangkok as well as a host of other things and, although he has the ability to be one of the forums biggest cunts at times, he also possesses an extremely good sense of humour.

Homintern is also someone, that rather surprisingly to me, thinks he upsets me, which is totally untrue, as I always have a good laugh at what he says in his posts about me. I am reliably informed by O'Booze, that Hommie is going to put on a pantomime this year with a slight twist on the old Wizard of Oz. In Hommie's new version, he has myself going off with Dorothy to see the Wizard in search of a sense of humour. My two companions will be the same characters as in the old movie, with our resident cat playing the Lion in search of a heart and the cowardly impala, playing the Tin man in search of a brain.

In addition to Homintern, the second most highest voted member in the poll, Dodger, is probably one of the most well respected members on the forum and whose posts, are probably enjoyed here more than any other members. If you have any doubts about what I have said, do a search on him and read some of his posts for yourself. I am not suspicious of either Dodger or Homintern accumulating the votes that they did fairly, despite a comment of mine about Homintern earlier, that obviously flew over the heads of some members. It is the votes of the third placed member that I have the most suspicion about.

One thing you are going to have to do if you intend sticking around here, is to develop a thicker skin, as I assure you that some of the replies you received in answer to your questions in your thread, were very mild in comparison to what they can be and in fact, nomally are a lot of the time.

fattman is a great member and I agree totally with your comments about him. There are many decent members here I assure you and if you really do not like some of the cunts we have the misfortune to have as members here, which I honestly believe are in a very small minority, you do have an ignore feature that you can use. Surest way is to run the poll manually with members responding with a 1 word post. If we see a lot of posts from new members we know it's highly likely to be rigged.

An excellent idea, which would validate polls here for the first time - as for new members voting, add a rule that all voters must have been a member for at least one month and made at least three posts. Maybe all the polls could (and should, if they are to be properly representative) be run in this way, and the poll system modified accordingly. Any "ringers" would be visible straightaway. As 99% of members are already anonymous, why is there a need for any poll to be anonymous too? Some posters have demanded that we "Stand up and be counted": well, here's a chance - even if it is anonymously!

Clearly the poll has been rigged - to what extent, and by whom, it is impossible to say, even though some appear more guilty than others, and some are clearly totally bameless.

Why do you get who on Ignore? You were obviously logged on to post, but if you don't log on, it is not unusual to have a few members come up as being on ignore. Anyone not logged on, will always get Homintern come up as being on Ignore, which I believe I read recently has something to do with his blog. If you are logged on and have someone on ignore that you do not want on ignore, simple, remove them from the list. Get it? Got it? Good! ;)

Thanks Cat. That seems fairly straight forward and is somewhat easier than getting to see KevinQ. Nothing I like more than a boat trip on the Chao Phraya and since this requires going all the way to Nonthaburi I may even go and see George myself. I will check with the British Embassy in BKK first though, as I feel sure that there is more protocol involved in visiting non-nationals.

Incidentally Kevin is very well considering his environment and his throat Cancer. He always look so scrubbed up when I see him and it's not as if he gets advanced warnings or anything. Must be quite a trial sharing a room with 58 others, mostly Thai.
