BBC docu-drama about Sawatdee's Dame Sanitree Na Parkin

She used to thrill us on her with her up market views about all and sundry-and throw glamorous cocktail soirees in Bangkok to which I and infamous The Colonel were regular guests. Then she uped and vanished one day. None of us knew what had happened..there were clues in the preceeding weeks which a more alert person would have noted :

The Bentley in which she was ferried about Bangkok like a society queen was re-possed in an embarrassing moment when it was collecting the Dame after a sumptious lunch at The Oriental. A glum trip back to her magnificent condo on a baht bus was even worse when she arrived to find the locks changed and some formal letter complaining about unpaid utility bills etc.

Then her long suffering Filipino maid Conseula shot through with the Dames jewellery ( sadly the poor thing would later find they were all fakes !)..as is the gossip that swirls around Bangkok ( and reaches the furtherest points of Pattaya) it was revealed she was in fact A MAN !..Conseula I mean..God only knows what sex Dame Sanitree is !. Some say she fled back to the Hamburg docks were she plied a trade when young, with the equally odd Pearl of The Orient..hard to believe as they hated each other's guts. Some say they were one and the same person.

Now all is to be revealed by the BBC in a dramatised version of Dame Sanitree Na Parkin's exciting and mysterious life :

I 'm sure you are as svelte as you say. I'm talking about The Colonel you silly old sod. Oh God she was a total nightmare at those parties..on and on she would go about the battles she had been in..some used to say she's making it all up you know..and I said "no she would be an assset in any battle as she could bore the enemy to death or they'd end up putting a bullet in their own heads to get away from the misery"

I miss the good old queen. Those were, as they say, more innocent times. Rick using his flashligh, Dame with her announcements from her sukhumvit castle, Hedda pretending to know everything (ditto the Coloner). Ah who else...David of Pattaya and others who have departed (memory fading).

Wow, time goes fast, eventhough it may be only 10 years ago, at most. At least, I think we still have Billy somewhere around. But then, he was a later pousseur and nothing like the original cast.

P.S., can anyone remind me? What was the name of Dame's archrival?
