The Nation (newspaper) is reporting that PM Samak may call it quits tomorrow (Thursday)

Good or bad I am not sure.

I would keep those safety belts fastened for another week or so.

Will Samak call for a snap election and a new mandate from the people under a new party name ? If he wins any election would the general be forced to toe the line?

...suppose to be announced tomorrow morning after 9AM...so who would take Sammak's place that would get rid of the patriots/insurgents in YELLOW off the government grounds and out of the airports? . I am not a Thai so what I say probably doesn't represent most Thais, but whatever the out come is of this political chaos, it is a no win-no win for both sides (25% decrease in the stock market; international companies not eager to invest in such political climate; tourist revenues dropping by the minute; the baht dropping; a more divided country..) What can unite everyone to GET RID OF CORRUPTNESS in government and business? That is the main focus any party or Thai should ask.

Samak stays on

(BangkokPost.com)

Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej on Thursday dismissed claims he would resign. "Don't even think I am going to quit," he said. "The country needs a leader, and the world is watching us."
Some media reports (not the Bangkok Post) featured reports that Mr Samak would step down to meet a demand from the 102-day street protest in Bangkok.
For the first 30 minutes of his speech on nationwide radio - broken at 8am for the national anthem - the prime minister was calm, as he reviewed events of recent days, and said that events would eventually become smooth "in order to protect democracy".
"I am going to stay in office, and protect democracy," he said at the end of the first part of his speech.

I'm sure you can figure out the what that means for the future of Thailand. There were no more New Year's Day interviews after that
