View Full Version : Older brothers correlate with Gayness
60 Minutes, tonight, shows a correlation between gayness (presumely male gays) and having big brothers.
It's the third segement and was quite interesting. If you're on the West Coast, check it out.
Go ahead Astro explain? Is "60-min" anymore than just sensationalised anecdotal chit chat?

CBS also has an interesting report - http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/03/ ... 5230.shtml (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/03/09/60minutes/main1385230.shtml) - on the The Science Of Sexual Orientation - it looks at 9 year old twin boys and what it calls childhood gender nonconformity, meaning a child whose interests and behaviors are more typical of the opposite sex. It says that research shows that kids with extreme gender nonconformity usually grow up to be gay.
More specifically the empirical, not anecdotal, evidence shows that a right handed youngest boy with many big brothers is much more likely to be gay than other right handers. No such evidence exists for left handers.
My brother is bigger than me - he's about 8.5" or 9". He's also younger. Does that help?

My younger brother was also gay. I remember reading research on twins and twins only had an average chance of both being gay, even identical ones.
The link Cottmann posted pretty much covers the entire 60 minutes piece.
