Very short Soi Twilght report (Sat. Night)

I have been out of town and have not been over to soi Twilight in a few weeks. I started out at X-Boys for the 10pm show but left after 15 min as the place turned into a total smoke pit. Big no smoking signs were ignored. Once a few started it seemed everyone lit up. The final straw was when they seated a white smoking fat cow next to me. I paid up, and left.

Then three or four waves of groups of Chinese tourists assented on the soi. They kept in a tight formations of 15 to 20 and marched in to Boys Bangkok and another in Dream Boys, so those bars were off limits for me. I noticed several smoking, the BBB group is about the best on the soi for enforcing the no smoking laws--I wondered if they wear able to get the Chinese to put out the butts.

My options were getting limited and I ended up in the new Siam Boys Bar. They have a new format of a few show sets every 15 min or so, rotating with boys on the stage. It was smoke free and quite nice inside. The staff friendly and the lowest priced drinks on the soi, 200B.

I visited the Soi Twilight during the months of late July and early August after an year and this what I found. Lots of changes and the game plan changed from Bar to Bar. Thanks to BB Group keep raising the fares for both the drinks and the off fees, it has on the whole helped to turn this vibrant Soi into a ghost town most of the nights. The net result, quality of boys have reduced as they no longer find it profitable to operate in an environment where there are no customers. WASTE OF TIME AND NOT REAL RETURN ON THEIR INVESTMENT. It is a turn-off for both the customers and the boys. Instead, more are operating from outside the Bars from the the 3 Beer Bars (Banana, Hotmale and the New One). Farangs are getting smarter and the boys understand the changing market trend.

The best both in terms of quality of boys and the entertainment is X-Boys this year. It is always packed and there are cross section of boys and customers. They are doing so well that the owner was able to start a new Massage Place next door; Bang-Kok Massage investing 4 million Baht. A lesson to BB group for not to get too greedy and drive the market in the future. FRANGS ARE NOT STUPID. Not to mention, they have the best selection boys of all varieties. They are smart, clean, cute looking and polite. Captains are very helpful and not pussy as they have good crown all the time.

Future Boys one time HERO down the Soi is a dead-loss in the last 2 years. They themselves, don't know what went wrong with them. They are in a state of shock and it will take another few years before they revive or close down. Waste of time and money. No quality and no striking boys to look at even.

Jupiter, still maintains it's professionalism and quality. They boys selection now tends more to lean on the heavy side, but they have a few cuties. They have their own crowd and their shows are still the best in town.

Classic Boys still the same with the more gay type young boys. Slim, fair, cute and sexy. Not for guys looking for strong straight guys. Not much crowd, but have the old farangs who like the cute, caring guys who will take care of them

Hotmale, is not hot like in the last 2 years. They had better selection before, this time though they have numbers there is nothing strikingly good for a second visit. Shows are not that great.

Solid Bar, away from the Soi has some of the best cuties and stunners. It attracts some of the best guys who don't want to be seen in the active gay area. The plus is that it has the hidden talent. Beer is cheap at 100 Baht and the off fees is 300 Baht. Very friendly place. Don't miss Number 11 guys .... he is cute and very hot in bed. I took him for 3 nights and the 4th would have been a disaster as I could not keep up with the demands. He is nice, cute, kind and caring. Take good care of him because he deserves it.

Golden Cock is a write-off in terms of quality with the Doorman Beer no longer working there. He was the only cutie.

The New Siam-Angel Bar has started on a very low profile and the number of guys are growing day by day and if they keep doing what they are doing, they could give run to other Bars soon. They want to brand themselves differently and for that model to succeed we need support them. They start with a low rate for the drink and looking at reduced rates for the 2nd and 3rd drinks. Good concept with shows very 30 minutes. Would be a nice place to spend the night if they could attract more and attractive guys to operate out of their bar.

BB Bars (both Bangkok Boys and Dream Boys) are push-overs and living on their past pride which will not take too long to die unless they realize and change both their attitude towards the market and what the customers are expecting.

I agree with the show, what I saw of it before I was driven off by everyone smoking around me but quality of the boys is a more subjective judgment. The two acts I saw were the same that they have been doing for at least a year now, nothing new.

BBB's shows have more variety in terms of some seasonal changes and again is the only bar that is smoke free.

The thing is your visit was right in the middle of the low season. Things remain quite fluid on soi Twilight from month to month, even week to week.

I agree with your comments on The New Siam-Angel Bar. I was went in not expecting much and was surprised but very few customers. They were all over at X boys smoking up a storm.

We are fortunate to have you on this forum as the Bangkok bar scene is under reported on and
trongpaiexpat has been a one man army for too long..

I am strongly adverse to cigarette smoking inside airconditioned boy bars and restaurants and will not sit
down in a bar that stinks like an overflowing ashtray.. It is unfortunate that the Bangkok boy bar owners
cater to the nicotine addicts and spit in the faces of the non smokers and smoke intolerant customers..
Customers who cannot enjoy themselves in a bar without a lit cigarette soon find out where their habit
is encouraged and concentrate in such bars which only increases the foul air.
In bars that forbid cigarette smoking, the smokers simply have a cigarette outside and then return inside
the bar and it works but for some reason not in Bangkok..

Say what you want about Pattaya, but it has become rare to see someone smoking a cigarette inside a boy
bar and most of the go go bars are strict about the no smoking policy.. :cat:

"Chinese tourists assenting on" is a new phrase to me. I saw them descending on the Soi in droves, and ascending a few staircases, but I imagine any assenting went on inside the bars, if they assented to put out their cigarettes. As for the busy-ness of these bars, I imagine the owners at the moment are prepared to take anyone who'll buy a drink. Bar boys (from my little Black Book) tell me "no customer off" (these are boys who seem perfectly frank about how much they're making when business is good so I've no reason to doubt them)

One of these days I may just bring up the subject of '3-somes' ( always joking of course :blackeye: ). Solid Bar number 11 ......... big no to him liking 3some. He will not into it and will hate u if you suggest that to him. You don't need anyone else when u have him and treat him well. I stopped in Solid with a couple of fellow Pattaya based farangs and of course, #11 was
not there but..
There was someone for everyone and my taste varies quite dramatically from both of
my companions and we all found some of the guys of interest..
100B. drinks for you and your new friend are also attractive after spending 250B. for a drink
at Dream Boys earlier that evening and seeing the one of the worst BKK Boy bar show ever.
Dream had less than half of its usual number of go go boys and if you like to see a lady boy fashion show, followed by the same lady boys sporting sizable boners, by all means check it
out.. They did have a couple of ringers and one had a lot of facial hair and another hairy legs,
so my guess is they threw in a couple of non lady boys into the mix.
Dream also had a regular big cock show but far fewer guys than in the past.. The rest of the show was a drag (literally) and I will not return for a long time.. NO fucking shows currently,

I am gald that you agree with me that Solid has more offer than the so-called great places like Dream Boys or Bangkok Boys. I am not surprised that # 11 was not there .......
