4 weeks ago I was on a gay birthday party there. Very nice resort at the Phoenix Golf Club. The two German guys who managing the resort created a big huge buffet and for some guest from Bangkok and else the host booked the 6 bungalows. Would be a good idea to arrange a pool party there again with some boys and a same good buffet.
But no idea what going on there in moment.

Are you sure? I30 US a night including breakfast? I might be missing something here, but your average motel in America costs about 150$. As far as lux hotels in Thailand are concerned this is an absolute bargain surely?

I think it looks charming, how sad its not in Bangkok and I'll have to wait forty years to fit in.

One thing that got me a little worried is I didn't see any of the trappings you would expect for age concern, like wheel chair ramps and modified bathrooms with hand rails throughout and zimmer-frame rental (Im certainly not being facetious) or cot rental, the beds do look unsafe no railings or sidings or waterproof. Must say that pool looks treacherous for the elderly too and possibly even for the disabled, one false step and eeeeeeeeeeeek, I cant bear to think, cocktail and all.

I wonder exactly how user friendly it is? I know all about this as my grandfather lost a leg in a riding accident, crushed beneath a falling horse. Never set him back or stopped him riding but now that he is old getting around is very difficult as his balance is not as good as it used to be. Things like zimmer-frames are very awkward to take on holiday. So he gets around like a giraffe on two long arm crutches when he travels.

Cedric - exactly what I thought when I looked at the photos. The place looks classy but not particularly disabled or elderly-friendly.

What it does seem to suggest as its special feature is the personal touch by the staff towards elderly or disabled guests - i.e. there'll be a lot of attempts to help. But unless someone is really trained to help the geriatric, this may turn out to be more hindrance than any worthwhile assistance.

Having said that, the owners probably are on to something. Considering how many times we see even on this board criticism of hotels that do not have elevators, the geriatric market must be a lucrative and sizeable one.

The owners may also be interested only in the German market. I clicked on their "exemplary menu" (it was supposed to mean an example of a menu) and it was all in German.

Location-wise, it sounded very far away from anywhere. Where is this golf course where it's supposed to be at? To get out of the darn place must surely require the hotel ambulance every time and how does one get back?

August 2nd, 2008, 10:33
Red Roof is perfectly acceptable and costs about $60 a night

Purple Roofs you mean? http://www.purpleroofs.com/

Its a nice menu I think Wazz, for the elderly, a choice of Thai and Eurocentric dishes to suit. Im sure there is a French translation if anyone gets into difficulty ordering.

Actually in America if you are willing to shop on line for a hotel like Orbit or others before you go the average is likely to be more like 90 bucks a day. I have been traveling for six months and honestly I have not taken a bad hotel room that did not have all the amenities for around 69 to 89 bucks, but I'm not staying at the Hyatt or Hilton either, but a good hotel with everything you need is not all that expensive unless you are on the beach or in California or New York. even most of the Hotels in Florida are generally kind of inexpensive. I would say if you can get at a good Gay resort in key west for about 120 a night with two person occupancy that is not too bad. That is if you actually have friends that are willing to be seen with you.

Yea I don't do much shopping around but in March I was in LA, driving to Palm Springs and Phoenix and beyond, I used a few roadside motels for convenience along the way, nothing was under 130 Dollars.

I love the cats and dogs that's charming.

Will send them an e-mail because I am intersted in a gay resort on a golf course.
Keep you informed.

I saw the owner last night in Cafe Royal. Told them about this forum. Thez will have a look and maybe change something.
Said last weekend they have 4 gay couple (falangs around 45 - 55)
They invite me to stay there for a night to report here on this forum - someone want to joy?
Requested 21-29years, Thai for me. :geek:
Maybe I will do it.

Oh yes please do, and make a special report. Please pay particular attention to facility for the elderly. Walking distances and wheel chair access everywhere, plus safety around the pool area and in the room. I already see some problems with the stepping stones at the front door of the bungalows. You have to be very nimble and on your toes to navigate those as an elderly person.

I also wonder if they have an in-house nurse should an emergency arise. But also should anyone be on medication they may help with its administration. The last thing an old person wants to do it forget to take their pills on hols.

I have a soft spot for old people so all in all I think this is a tremendous idea. I am not trying to diminish that at all with the above. I applaud every effort no matter how small to cater to the elderly. One day we will all be old and how nice to think we can safely go and have a good time in Thailand. Where there are people that not only will welcome us but also understand our every need.

I think resorts for aids patients in similar destinations would also be a very nice idea. A place for example where people may hand over the problems of following a strict drug and diet regime to someone else qualified and just concentrate on having a good relaxing time instead. Can you imagine how nice that would be for them.

August 3rd, 2008, 12:51
I found their web site a few days ago and if I understood these two guys do not open a retirement home but offer travel and accommodation with some help or assistance for those who need it.

That is a big disappointment. Now they don't care for welcoming the elderly. What an extraordinary about turn, oh well they are missing out on an enormous market one that is growing and growing set to overtake all others.

Sad. It does seem that gays are more than welcome just about anywhere in Thailand so I don't know what's so special about them now. In fact without their welcoming of the elderly they are just another quite boring resort without much style.

Golf and creamed corn soup anyone?

Good for those old ones who don't like to slum it at 2guys
I love scumming it, it fits right in with the rest of the group there in Pattya, Just ask Homiterd. Since when did we all become too good to stay any where or to decide for someone else what slumming it it is for someone else. Its this kind of stuff that keep people from bothering to ask a question. So, now I am staying at a slum based on what facts other than your likely uninformed comment. It's amazing how two different people can look at the same place so differently. Is it a slum because its near Sunnee or a slum because Sunnee is nearby? Or is it just not expensive enough for your taste to be considered out of the slum? God People like this really make such a good impression on us regular folks.

I think it looks rather nice and as they like puppy dogs and pussy cats they can't be all that bad.

As for this ageist rubbish..ditch it fast. Gays have fought enough battles without age being one of them. ( this is horrible :homosexual elderly or disable men:..knocking a place beacause they are proud to proclaim the fact..there by the Grace of God ...and all that !)

I like places run by Germans..always efficient and always willing to help me to my room when I'm slightly under the weather.

They've removed all that about old people and disabled. I cant imagine why? Think the word zimmer frame put them off. Think they're a bit confused quite honestly. Maybe they thought a nice idea at first, but the practicalities are not something they thought about.

And there I was thinking what a lovely idea.

I know it appeals to some for obvious reasons but I've never stayed in a "gay hotel" as such, never thought it was necessary in Thailand. Still don't.

August 4th, 2008, 16:42
Pascal, when will you go there. Maybe I will book there too. Any chance you arrange a special discount for me?
Would go there Friday to Sunday.

Like you, I think it should have been a good business idea. With the text change, now the business loses its focus. Differentiation is an important factor for business success, especially when they're a small place (just 6 rooms) and don't have the marketing muscle to compete against bigger competitors. Cater to a niche and do it well, as the business school would tell you.

If the owners are reading this, let me suggest this: Think through the practicalities of serving the elderly and disabled. Be clear in your mind what you're prepared to do and what you're not prepared to do for your guests. Then train your staff accordingly to deliver those services.

Next, leave the frontpage of the website as it is (because saying "elderly and disabled" so prominently may discourage other guests from booking, thinking they are not welcome), but add a section within the website called "Guests with special needs". In that section explain clearly what are the extra services you are able to offer to the elderly and disabled. That way, you can still cater to the general market, but also gain the attention of those with special needs.

If possible, invest in a wheelchair and get one of your staff to wheel himself around the place to discover for yourselves what the hurdles are. That same wheelchair may come in handy for guests later on.

actually, I have never Been checked either, had to turn it on one time then right back off, had it checked for explosives one time no big deal, but keep it with all my business stuff on it is ridiculous, not to mention bank account credit cards that are paid by computer bills paid by computer and all the shit lost would be a disaster. I decided to upgrade my hard drive and ship this one ahead of time to my friends in the Philippines to keep all my information. You can hook up the old hard drive by USB port and then use it for a external storage device afterward.

August 6th, 2008, 11:44
Yes I have also been made to switch it on and off. To be honest I don't really mind who looks into my hard drive, as long as I am present and no copies are made. If they want an eye full of adult porno that's their problem. I never take a lap top to Thailand, Im there for holiday. if I need to brows most hotels have easy access.

Is porno illegal in the states? I cannot imagine. Given that so much crap porno comes from there. When will someone there realise that body hair is natural and sexy, plucked flesh, perfect teeth, nose jobs, perfect hair days, silicon and hair extentions are just that plastic and very dull.

Dear Janice Dickinson and Tyra Banks get edgy sweet hearts the world is yawning your way.

Wesley
August 6th, 2008, 12:17
I do occasionally look at adult porn, I also have some Friends on MSN who occasionally will send me some pics that are questionable as to their age. I can't prove how old they are I have no idea where the pics came from. I have seen sites that honestly the guys looked 14 or 15 and it was a legal site and operated as one. Some guys just look young. Unfortunately I was never so lucky. The good part about that is ugly pretty much stays he same for a life time and young and pretty seems to change. (Just joking) Exception is Homi... At any rate Its not what I have looked up that bothers me its what some Friends have sent me and often until you see a close up and a bigger pic they could have been any age. Of course I am not talking about kids, I am talking about legal guys that look 15 and are 18. But, if they keep my laptop because of that take it apart then call my integrity into question because if an idiotic picture from Homi.

God help us when our civil liberties are set aside for no good reason. If there is anything I consider private its my computer. I don't and never have saved any chat sessions because nosy people tend to want to know whats on your computer. Like some people like to see if you cleaned behind he couch. So, I have always Been a bit careful about what I keep on here. its not the legal stuff that bothers me but no doubt there have Been some pics sent to me that could be considered just by looks not legal. Now, how do I prove it is legal, I have no site proof no way of even knowing as far as I know who sent it to me. Its just there. I could run the DOD program then delete that. But if finding a remnant of that makes them even more suspicious I may never get my hard drive back. I have more than 1500 names in my address book alone. I really would hate to loose all that. for me there is no way to get totally away from my work for two weeks. its not much but people need to be able to find me by email everyday. Here I am on dial up, there is little I can do as far as vids but there may be an occasional pic that although deleted long ago I cannot explain everything they might find. mostly I think its abominable they can just keep it for no good reason.

August 6th, 2008, 16:16
Yes I have also been made to switch it on and off. Well if that's true, would you be very upset if I withheld your bonus when I sacked you, seeing as you are already retirement age and because you tried to interfere with negotiations with your replacement, by telling them you were paid thirty thousand HK$ a month? Just interested in your opinions, seeing as you've been there.

And is it reasonable in your expert opinion to ask for all the furnishings you provided including the HD television back when they leave. She tried to ship them to Manila so I had to put them in storage until she leaves. Except the bed of course and a tomato box for the candle and precious bible. Thanks so much for explaining GF.

When you write "looks like" or "sounds like", as in your comments about Gay Parade marchers being "extremist bigots" then it is your opinion, and when you put your comments in quotation marks, that these marchers were "looking for a fight" it means that it isn't your opinion but is a quotation from another source.

But that can't be right either, as you were never able to provide a source for your quotation!

It's looking the worst Im afraid.

Was it all a trap to lure young back-packers into a life of slavery at the hands of two aged German perverts? Hence the hurried denial of welcoming the elderly. Poor Pascal and all he wanted was a free weekend in resort style ambience. They probably have those trendy double walls and basement apartments so popular in Austria.

Shouldn't someone pop over and tap walls and stuff, quietly calling out Pascal, Pascal?

Tip look at the dog if it looks at blank walls while cocking its head you know something is up. They can hear a million times better than us, its probably Pascal trying to call through a thick cotton mouth plug.

Hurry please. Also Check the cabins at the back for signs of struggle, shattered free welcome cocktail or random items of soiled clothing lying on the foot path.

I hope he's still all right.

This is the opening statement on their webpage:

"the luxurious holiday gaydreamresidence not only for elderly and handicap homosexual men and their friends under German management in Pattaya / Thailand."

I bet one of these two German is handicap, and the other is elderly, or both of them are....lol.
This is probably their residence and they are just trying to make some extra bucks by renting out part of their residence.

I am not elderly or handicap, and I am not a friend of them.
I don't think German is known for their resort management, in fact, I haven't heard of anybody running to Germany for their resorts.

So I guess, I won't be going to their "rainbow resort" in Huay Yai, a la la land in the middle of nowhere.
But all you elderly and handicap folks out there, please do enjoy the hospitality of the German resort.

Homintern where you born an old man?..of course not , Can't you tell ?. Nor woman either. Beast is the correct word.

I love them and wish to emulate them. don't we all ?. I discovered a small establishment in Sydney about 5 years on that "golden mile" they call Oxford Street where all the gays hang out. It was up 2 flights of stairs and had little rooms all round a stage. One went into the room, locked the door and put a token in a slot whereupon a window slid open and voila !!..there was always a gorgeous young man playing with himself.. (long time..as I spent a fortune on tokens-all for research purposes)

I asked the management where they found such handsome guys.."backpackers who have run out of money !!" he said " Finnish, German , French we have the lot" oh la la ! Wonder if it's still there ?. Where is Bad Boy Billy when you really need him ?.
