Can anyone help me with a suggestion for a hotel that's handy for Suvarnabhumi?

It's just for one night - passing through Bangkok on the way home. I'm checking in about 10.00 am, so I am just looking for somewhere to sleep the night. Cheap and basic will do fine, so long as it is clean and secure.

Thanks

Did you mean 10.00 pm?

There is a Novotel Hotel at the airport, though it will not fit the description of being cheap and basic.

To find a hotel as you describe, trvelling some distance from the airport would be necessary, as I see things. Others may know better.

Sorry, I did not make myself clear. I need to be at at the airport to check in for my flight by 10.00 am - I'll be staying in the hotel the night before.

maybe I've just been lucky with getting to the airport (and I have typically been heading out there fairly early AM) but from Silom or Sathorn has been quite quick. Less that 30 minutes for sure. So I would imagine you can stay in town and not have to leave too early for the airport. If you need to check in at 10 you could leave by 9 and likely make it in time.

Or, if you really want to be close to the Suvarnabhumi Airport:

Thank you all for this - it's very helpful. Never having done it I was worried about getting stuck in rush hour traffic. Seems I can have a night in town before I leave

As for the Novotel - indeed, it is not cheap. I had a look at their website, and they seemed to be under the impression I wanted to buy the hotel, rather than stay there for the night :blackeye:

Thanks again
