I was talking to one of my Thai tailors 3 days ago. She has a shop on Soi Boikow. She brought up the conflicts in Bangkok. I found it interesting to hear that even though she liked Thaskin, she felt that the new government was terrible and not doing anything to help the people. She did not say she hoped for a coup, but did feel that Samak's government needs to be changed.

anyone agree that samak will step down by year end and thaksin if not pm will be in the government ranks again officially? probably after a few more mass demonstrations and maybe even an orchestrated riot or 3.

Mass demonstrations are not easy to organise in the rural areas where people are relatively widely scattered and may find it difficult to take time off from working the land.

They are far easier to organise in a big city like Bangkok where a large number of people can easily and quickly be gathered together and where urban 9-5 workers are more likely to have the time to do so.

As I understand it and as we saw before the coup, the anti-Thaksin supporters are more urban based so they are the ones more likely to engage in - and benefit from - any frequent and mass demonstrations.
