Where is here? Are you comparing Thailand to another country or what????

Also, you're indifferent to the spelling of FORTY.

"I will be forty in about four fortnights but I still act like I'm fourteen".

The consensus of a few dictionaries (including English Oxford and a Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/40_%28number%29 ) is that "FORTY" is the correct usage, in spite of the 'u' appearing in "four" and "fourteen".
It's one of the reasons ~ along with a million others ~ why my guy thinks the english language is incredibly difficult to learn properly.

Interesting item in Websters where it agrees with "forty" as modern usage, but uses "fourty" as the Middle English derivative:

Main Entry: for┬╖ty
Pronunciation: \ˈfȯr-t├з\
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural forties
Etymology: Middle English fourty, adjective, from Old English f├зowertig, from f├зowertig group of 40, from f├зower four + -tig group of 10; akin to Old English t├оen ten
Date: before 12th century

Cheers ...

Amsterdam is living on reputation. Great city for fun and sex from 1960 to 1990. Now boring. Weather dreadful except for few months in summer. Dutch food awful. Outside from Amsterdam you see very narrow and provincial people. Dutch people say this too but think Amsterdam is still sacred cow that all must worship. You go and you see.

Give us more info on Amsterdam Jetsam-I'm due a visit there later this year.

are there still lots of porn shops ?..I;m hoping to find some films starring my 22 year old blonde South African boyfriend who scapered to Amsterdam in 1979 and became a minor porn star !

I agree with Naruk though-I loved it from the 70's to the late 80's.

Never another winter there though..no-one deserves that sort of punishment !

Most places in world today inclusive Thailand are worse than ten (+/-) years ago or more. But this is all we have to live with... this world.
The trend in Thailand is to make tight and oppress more slowly with time passing. Maybe soon laws against the prostitute selling his body will be enforced too. Then the big love/hate crusade will begin.

I don't agree that Thailand is worse that ten years ago. Infrastructure has improved vastly, and there is noticably less corruption at the day-to-day officialdom level.

he-he
I do not come to Thailand for infrastructure and corruption interests. (But plenty of corruption involved in running bars.) If that is important I move to Switzerland or Amsterdam as Jetsam says in original post. I come Thailand for sex with pretty boys. Today boys much more crazy. Since police get crazy too and more control freakish soon maybe laws against prostitution will be enforced. If law that exist about prostitute get enforced then very few farang stay in Thailand. I have seen happen in many countries. Thailand just start to make sex business all but impossible. If you have one partner until death do you part, then no problem. I like new boy every day. Lots do even if they not tell you.

Despite the number of posters here who use the services of moneyboys, they still are a small percentage of the number of people who come here for better/other reasons.

he-he

You think there is "better" reason than sex? (he-he) Or "other" reason? To become monk? To ride skytrain? To look at mountain? All better elsewhere. You live in very funny dream world fattman. You sound like priest. Also visa laws get worse each year. Little by little.

Thailand = sex and number 1 reason for coming here. There may be few "other" too, but sex is number 1. Maybe you stay in Atlanta Hotel in Bangkok? Maybe you own Atlanta Hotel? he-he

Any "other" reason is better in many other places. Better beach, better transport, better mountains, better road. All better someplace else.

If you look on his avatar you will see he is from Holland. And with regard to the spelling of forty I suppose your Dutch and Thai language are impeccable. Haven't you got anything better to do than to fault someones spelling who's first language isn't English?

And what the hell is the Atlanta Hotel??

www.theatlantahotelbangkok.com/ (http://www.theatlantahotelbangkok.com/)

From their web page:

"The Atlanta is against sex tourism. Sex tourism is exploitative, socially damaging and culturally demeaning: those who want to buy sex should do so in their own country.

The Atlanta has a 'zero tolerance' policy with regard to trouble-makers and all illegal activities, including the use or possession of illicit drugs. Such miscreants are reported to the police without advance warning, without hesitation and without apology. Those who object to this policy, and those who wish to spend their time in Thailand whoring, indulging in alcohol abuse, drugs or other illegal activities should stay elsewhere.

Tourism is not about going on a rampage through other people's country: those who cannot go abroad without behaving badly should stay home.

SEX TOURISTS ARE NOT WELCOME"

I wonder if TROLLS are given the Boot TOO?

June 1st, 2008, 14:45
Yes there are a lot better reasons that just sex. Sex is available anywhere in the world for free.

And what the hell is the Atlanta Hotel??

Free sex very messy and complicated and costing lots more in end than beautiful boy for money.
Who get free sex every day with different beautiful boy or maybe two without pay? Most coming to Thailand to get fantasy fulfilled not destroyed with messy love scene. Go to movies for that! You want good sex you buy pretty money boy.
Thailand = sex. You cut sex from equation and tourism finished in Thailand. All know this. Hard for religious fanatic to admit this like pope, but true.
Atlanta Hotel is place to destroy sex fantasy fulfillment. Sure you live there or maybe shares holder. You like it! Try! Trust me! I know your kind like there. Maybe only place like that in all Thailand. Rare! Beautiful! Movies making there!

More from their Web Page:

"The Atlanta is run on conservative principles and fosters traditional values.

The Atlanta does not hesitate to refuse rooms to persons unsuited to the prevailing ethos of The Atlanta.

The Atlanta does not welcome SEX TOURISTS, and does not try to be polite about it.

Borderline cases are not given the benefit of the doubt, but are treated as sex tourists.

Those who are borderline cases should stay elsewhere. "

They do not say anything about gays but in the reservation form they want to know ages and the sex of each occupant. I wonder if a 65 year old farang with a 19 year Thai BF would even get a booking?

On top of all the moralizing, the rooms look basic and over priced. Only the lobby looks nice.

They do seem to go over the top but I would not object to a sign in a hotel saying ' NO TROLLS ALLOWED"

Talk to them and maybe help you with troll sign. But I am not thinking fattman is troll. He really believe what he tells and that is what is not troll. Only expect others to believe same is nonsense.

And, I am one of that "small percentage." I came here for other reasons. I won't be so judgmental as to say better reasons, though -- to each their own.

I think our friend from the South Shetland Islands is just trying to keep things light and tease a bit, after being surprised to hear a viewpoint he probably hadn't even considered before?

Fatman is not a TROLL but he seems to be feeding one. Me too, last comment.

Atlanta Hotel is also calling police if suspect sex tourist having sex friend. Warning: that to sell body for money or for gift is crime in Thailand. Most love scenes fall into gift giving style but still really prostitute if law is fully enforced. I think this is next great hysteria campaign in Thailand and what will finish tourist coming. Then Bangkok going under water. Not a good story, but that is strong trend. I see this all before other places. Nothing new here.
Keep options open. Keep laughing. Have lots of fun while waiting.

You 2 very funny. he-he. Maybe you think you are sacred cow and if I don't worship then you call troll?
This so very funny of how you expect me think you are Moses coming from mountain?
