This week's Stickman column is a reflection on the guy's ten years in Thailand. For those who still have stars in their eyes, or the attitude that "if you don't like it here, theres a plane leaving every day to your home country" it's an eye-opener

Hardly an eye opening reality check, in the way that you refer to. He acknowledges arriving with stars in his eyes, and summarizes his experience:
"ItтАЩs been a fun 10 years, a crazy period in many ways and while I didn't really have any expectations, I would say that those I did have have been exceeded. Never ever did I think I would stay this long. IтАЩd like to say that I wonтАЩt be writing a piece entitled тАЬ2 Decades LaterтАЭ, but then, you just never know!"
It is a worthwhile read.
