I was wondering where you were going with that "Alien Song" post but as soon as I heard the first few bars I knew! Its that line about "You're back from Outer Sapce" that always stuck with me about that song.

Well fine. Here's my favorite version:

What I love about this clip is the way the audience gets "into it" right away. Sometimes I think we in the West are born with a stick up our a$$. One of the reasons I love going upcountry with Boyfriend is this same "stickless" attitude. For 4 weeks a year I can get the stick out but then I come home and have to shove it back in again.
(sigh) 12 more years to retirement.....

I didn't know she did a song like that either. Usually I just hear a catchy tune on the radio and look it up on youtube. Don't know anything about the singer. Thats how I found P!nk, Natasha Beddingfield, Duffy, Lady Gaga, Steffy, etc etc...
Unfortunately most of them are one-hit wonders.

I love the kids in this vid. What a different world it is growing up gay now than it was in our time. :rr:

I'm surprised LMTU hasn't told us about the Latest Dance Sensation!
Well, at least that's what her Publicists are pushing......Lady Gaga in the running to be the next Madonna (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/11/08/LVJQ1A4BA3.DTL)

kenc, you do realize that Let's Dance (the video you embedded) was realeased over a year and a half ago (ancient history in pop music!), and that Lady Gaga has been pumping out hit after hit since then?

If you admit to just now "discovering" her, you may need to return your rainbow flag membership card. I mean, she's been on Ellen twice already. Pull it together, girlfriend! ;-)

Heh... I have a pretty diverse taste in music. But this list is just mainly what I've heard them playing in clubs lately.

Does anyone know this song?

[youtube:2k1hqljx]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xM2tAEhn_o[/youtube:2k1hqljx]

I really like it... has a really chilled out and catchy rhythm. It's from a Taiwanese singer but apparently a lot of Thai boys know it.

Every time I hear the song it reminds me of this Thai boy I met a few times... Because the first time we had sex his mobile phone kept ringing and this was his ring tone... we were sort of going from side to side with the rhythm lol.

The title, "Ting Ma Ma De Hua" means, "Listen to Your Mama's Words".... very Asian.

There's a version with English subtitles here:

[youtube:2k1hqljx]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeI8gN_Qedo[/youtube:2k1hqljx]

The singer, Jay Chou is phenomenally successful... and cute too.

That may be, but the lipsyncing in the first video is truly dreadful! Amateurs on youtube do it better! He may have a future at The Venue(if he practises, and stops being a superstar).

Oh yeah... with that video, it's because the audio lags behind the visual (they are not properly synchronised). Youtube seems to do this sometimes for some reason.

The lip synch is ok if you see a version that doesn't have this problem.

Hey, turns out Jay Chou's had his Hollywood debut.

I saw this movie called, The Green Hornet a few months back and one of the two main characters was this really cute, charismatic Chinese-looking actor. I kept thinking his face was familiar... turns out it's Jay Chou!

The movie's very funny but not something I'd watch more than once. Jay Chou does an awesome job in it. Definitely worth seeing.

I'm not exactly a disco bunny, but I like some asian stars even if I don't understand what they're singing. Jay Chou is a bit hip hoppy for me but is a cutie. I like the Hong Kong movie Initial D which he was in. I think the South Korean guy Rain is also cute (hence my avatar); the music again too hip hoppy, but he looks great in his first Hollywood movie Ninja Assassin. My favourite tho has to be Gackt; music from ballads to thrash metal and he has a sexy deep voice that makes me go moist in all the right places :bis:

Yeah, he's actually 30-something now but still really cute. I don't know, it's his character, I like too. He's got a certain aura around him. :love4:

This song is a bit more energetic. Live show looks awesome.

[youtube:2vdin4ju]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GV-4ObnHyNY[/youtube:2vdin4ju]

And of course, the live performance of my favourite song of his is really cool too (Ting Mama Da Hua / Listen to your Mama). Jay Chou is known for his belief in the value of "respect for parents". He's very grounded. Good role model.

I love the Jay Chou 'Fearless' song...that certainly did look a good concert (maybe available on DVD - I'll look on YesAsia later). Pchy was good too, never heard of him and he looks SO young - I like the slow touchy feely exchange of the lollipop at the end!!

One of my Thai favourites; and I'm referring to him rather than the music, which is a bit old and cheesy, is MOS. This guy was so cute (maybe still is) I'd happily empty my bank account out for him, and if it turns out that he's a mad axe murderer, I'd let him off for maybe just having a bad day! My Thai friends tell me MOS had a well known gay fling with BIRD.

That's more a fantasy than a worry isn't it? You like the bad boy types... don't you?! LOL

Pchy (Witwisit Hiranwongkul) came to fame as one of two lead actors in the hit Thai movie Love Of Siam. It revolves around the romantic relationship between two boys and all the obstacles that get in the way of this.

It's a pretty sweet movie... You should find a copy with English subtitles and watch it.

[youtube:3e8pwf97]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjPRZ2hMKWQ[/youtube:3e8pwf97]

In the movie, the talented Pchy plays the lead singer of a band called "August Band". This fictional band became a real band and continues to record and perform today.

That looks a cute movie. One of the guys in the clip looks just like a young Aaron Kwok....never a bad thing! Just ordered it from Amazon US. Looked on the eThai CD website, but so many Thai movies nowdays, including this one, don't have English subs anymore :dontknow:

Oh hey... Have you seen "Beautiful Boxer"? It's the one other Thai movie I like.

Very moving and extraordinarily well done. Good script, absolutely brilliant cast, excellent production values and most of all, an awesome soundtrack. Fantastic soundtrack.

Interestingly, the soundtrack is also one of the main reasons I liked Love Of Siam.

It's in English too...
