Those of us with whose board names show an obvious liking or affinity for cats seem to have it right !

Owning a cat 'cuts stroke risk by third'

Owning a cat can reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes by more than a third, researchers have found.
Scientists said that having a cat helped to relieve stress and anxiety, which is known to help protect against heart disease by lowering blood pressure and reducing the heart rate.

yes I think cats are an absolute nightmare ..I've just adopted one that's had 2 sets of kittens and lies on it's back all day waiting for the vacant brood to suck on it's teats..failing that it treats me as some sort of huge kitten..except instead of feeding this giant kitten it expects it to be it's slave..

relieve stress !! what a joke !...they are manipulative, selfish, stand offish but wants pats on it's terms when it's ready and will lash out when I dare to move and take my own tiny little seat on the sofa when it's claimed every spot in the condo.

I'd throw it out the window but it would probably throw me out first.

There's a lot of evidence, apparently, that old people who live alone live longer if they have a pet cat or dog. I don't believe a goldfish cuts the mustard though. As we know from the Monica saga, Hedda goes through so many budgies (and still lives) that clearly for some people they must be the ideal pet - http://www.sawatdee-gay-thailand.com/fo ... .php?e=283 (http://www.sawatdee-gay-thailand.com/forum/weblog_entry.php?e=283)

Well, there is certainly a Cat around here that RAISES peoples blood pressure.

I have noticed though that since he's given up the post of Official LMTU Basher to Jaidee454 he's been a much more mellow kitty.

Hedda probably frightens the budgies to death-they don't have the strongest hearts after all. That's probably what keeps him going.

Cats though are complete con artists-they had the Egyptians fooled that they were going to carry the Pharaohs souls to heaven on chariots-so got themselves banged up in the pyramids with mountains of food and lots of mice and would've know all the secret exits..and they even have the Thai royalty convinced of the same.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of those farangs who do over their balconies actually trip over their bloody cats.
