wasn't it "gay friendly " ??..my aunt married and old queen in New Zealand because as Il Presidente of Rotary he needed the respectability of a wife and she wanted the title of Lady that went with his knighthood. I'm not sure if she knew he was gay but she always complained he spent too many nights with the young man who had worked on their huge sheep property from the age of 15 , in his own little cottage..he said it was so he could get up early to round up sheep..indeed !!!
All this was a long time ago as the "young man "is now 80 and inherited half the farm -when I spoke to him the other day he said "oh I'd love to come to Pattaya I hear it's delightful..I said it depends what you are after.."the same thing you are I'm sure" he said..
not sure what this has to do with Rotary except to say there have been gay Il Presidentes even in NZ, albeit , in the closet !!!
