I've been trying to get on to Sawatdee Forum Pattaya and Im afraid the Cyber police have closed it down but I understood it to be an american based web page is it not possible to side track the the cyber force and go national looking for out side web pages as I understand the do in China now Google is censored.

It will only be cencored from Thailand.

where is wow pow when we need him, I know he would be able to track down outside forces to get in to sawatdee from Thailand with all his exspert Information................

the government and/or some ISPs are already blocking some common free proxy sites (though most of the paid/commercial services still seem to be OK!) - it may be better to circulate these proxy addresses by email?

Donny ... try "reading".

I thought it was imminetly clear that we are talking about Sawatdee and many other gay Thailand websites being blocked from being viewed inside Thailand. Presumably the Rest of The World can view them.

Sawatdee is blocked in at least a few Middle Eastern countries as well.

Cheers ...

I keep trying to rationalize this. I would think that this is in retribution for all the political postings on this and gaybutton boards. But so many other boards just like go unscathed.

So I think it must be what another poster said: someone reported you!

It could have been Silom. Or maybe a H*d*a in revenge for being driven from Sawatdee and never allowed to return. Or maybe the false H*d*a?

I have re-opened the ezboard for posting:

February 27th, 2006, 22:08
Hmmm...gaybutton and SF banned, but CFS, gaythailand, gaypatong still open. Can hardly be a coincidence.

Just a suggestion if you are going to re-open EzBoard.

Maybe go low profile: i.e. take down the photos of Thai GoGo guys dancing across the top of the page . . . and remove the scrolling sign which blares out across the top of the page "THIS BOARD IS INACTIVE"

But if the poster above is correct (who knows!?) about "being turned in" (by who?!), then the EZBoard will probably get the boot soon as well.

All extremely unfortunate.

Cheers ...

Everything is ok here in france

February 27th, 2006, 22:32
Duh, Amaretto. It's being blocked WITHIN Thailand. How would the Thai authorities block website access from France?

It really doesn't make any sense to point fingers. We are a very visible presence on the WWW and the current administration in Bangkok is apparently going to try to close-down any gay Thailand related board from being accessed within Thailand. It was only a matter of time.

The Chinese have been dealing with crap like this from their government for a long time. All you need to do is go through a proxy server to access this board from Thailand. Please do not publish the proxy server's address on the board, but instead circulate them through email, following the Chinese example.

I've adjusted the announcement on the ezboard to reflect this latest turn of events, but the random photos, including the go-go boys stay. It is obvious that just being "gay" is enough to be censored now, with or without go-go boys. I think, though, that in order to block our ezboard, they would need to block all of ezboard.com, which would be a big international attention-getter.

February 27th, 2006, 22:42
Wrong, 'spike. It doesn't take being "gay". It takes being "reported". The fact that you run porn ads doesn't help.

I am accessing from inside Thailand fine. Couldn't access this board recently from Dialup, CSLoxinfo, but now that I am on ADSL, AT&T, seems fine.

Well, in that case, it doesn't matter what kind of ads I run, does it?

February 27th, 2006, 23:00
They don't block websites just because someone reported them. Someone takes a look at the site, confirms it is naughty, then blocks it. Both SF and GB were naughty. If you report cnn.com, it will not be blocked.

I suggest changing the board name(e.g., Sawatdee Pink Thailand, Sawatdee Rainbow Thailand, or whatever). One of the first things the authorities would do is a search for any sites that have "Gay" in them. "Pattaya Gay" and "GayThailand" could be next. Here in the U.S. employers have filters on networks preventing employees from accessing "gay, sex, porno, etc." websites.

I'm not at all sure that I'd be comfortable posting to a board called "whatever". I mean it would be open to just about anybody to post about anything. Before you know it, the crochet and cross-stitch crew would have moved in and they can be really pointed.

I just got word from TGMassage that palmplaza.com is also banned.

February 28th, 2006, 02:27
I access through the proxy you gave me. I think the Google is also being used by Government (ICT) to search everything concerning to gay, porn, fтАжk etc. The biggest ThaiтАЩs gay website such as palm-plaza.us has been blocked as well. Even they try to re-open with new address but still was blocked within an hour after.

My website is in Thai but cannot be found by Google coz the default font code does not support to Google and it still accessible from Thailand ISP.

I think you donтАЩt need to re-open with new address at this time; using proxy is working fine and waits until political flavor fade out.

Exactly my thoughts too, JF, the political flavor du'jour. In a few months (or less), they'll declare it a success and forget about it. Keep in mind that this current proxy address is likely to get banned eventually, but then we'll just have to find a new one.

The bright-side of not being able to get targeted adsense, I suppose. :8(

And from the look of the who is online box right now, this block certainly hasn't hurt us traffic-wise.
