Merida, Mexico

Does anyone have any first-hand experiences or info on Merida, Mexico? ---Hotels, the scene, young men, things to do, the prices, etc. Thanks!

I visited 20 years ago, and there was one very pleasant gay bar -- I hope that you will post a trip report upon your return, as I would love to hear what that city has become!

I recall having found a hotel through the Spartacus guide -- I'm not sure if it is still around, but it was quite lovely -- beautiful marble floors, and a slightly tatty 1920's feel in the inside courtyard. The suite was large, and had a very good kitchen.

I also remember that the beach was quite lovely, although the Gulf has probably been well polluted by now.

The "visitors' info" websites all paint quite a nice picture, indeed. Mumbaighost, I don't suppose you would happen to remember the name of that hotel, some twenty years ago, would you? Thanks.
