I have been to Udon Thani many times and it's full of farangs. I have been to Ubon Rachathani only once but did not see nearly as many farangs. Most of these Issan farang I see are older guys with younger wifes and often with children.

I noticed that the add mag. Thai Phuen has two new listing for gay venues in Ubon: Relaxing Sauna and some gay bar called Silver. No address given for either venue.

There must be an immigration office in Ubon.

Nice one, Trongpai ...
I never heard about this bar and wonder if anyone has more information.
About the Relaxing Sauna location, there was a thread that you will read at www.gaythailand.com/forums/lofiversion/index.php/t1869.html (http://www.gaythailand.com/forums/lofiversion/index.php/t1869.html)
All web links I had about this place are dead, and anyway I understand the site was in thai only and gave very little information.
In Ubon there is (was) also a male brothel but this place is off-limits for farangs.
Hustlers can be found in the park at night, as well as in a small building where there are games and karaoke cabins in the Felix Nevada area.
I never staid in Ubon on my own so I don't know anything else for the moment.

I was in Ubon Ratchanthai just last week visiting the Universtiy. Very nice city and the people drive corretly, so driving and getting around was very easy. The people at the University said it was about a 30 minute dirve to the immigration office, but I don't know its location.

I have a friend just moved to Ubon and he tells me that there in a large Immigration office in Ubon and many along the border that can do this.

I am assured that the office is still open in Ubon itself and there are a few threads on "we love ubon" board - as follows

http://ubonblog.weloveubon.com/2007/08/ ... close.html (http://ubonblog.weloveubon.com/2007/08/ubon-city-immigration-office-will-close.html)

http://ubonblog.weloveubon.com/2007/08/ ... tani.htmlt (http://ubonblog.weloveubon.com/2007/08/visit-gaeng-saphue-in-ubon-ratchatani.htmlt)

It was going to close last year but I am told that it is still open.

Hope this is of some help.

I have been a few times but as was said above - most of the farangs you will see will be of the straight variety, Nightlife is limited and very Thai style (mostly isaan type - karaoke).

You will be surprised how many of the younger Thais speak quite good english.
