I'm afraid l cant give LeCage my full blessing, the Bar Manager (Mike's partner) is so miserable, and considers himself not worthy of him serving you.
When l was there last Mike wasn't to be seen much, though no one can deny someone a few nights off, it was getting to be a habit.
On purpose l didn't tip last time, and gave him the bill, and my drink money.
I will go again, but if there are only bar staff, l shall avoid.
That's the only bar l have said that about!

As this is supposedly your first post, it would be difficult for you to have previously said anything about other bars!!

Yes, I did hear the sound of an ax grinding. Could it be that not all the venue owners in Sunee are not all one big happy family?

Well...Hello "first timer" Pattaya Police,
interesting finding the Pattaya Police here on Sawatdee Forum...

I find it amazing that you - as a newbie to this board - in your first posting -
have called the Manager of Bar La Cage "so miserable"...
"and considers himself not worthy of him serving you"...

Quite to the contrary, I have found the Bar La Cage Manager a most
pleasant person and his Staff as well - seeking to make their patrons
welcomed and promptly served...

As I have observed this in my many stops
at Bar La Cage - especially during the Happy Hour...

I like the "Buy one Happy Hour Menu drink - get one FREE ...
served from 6:30pm - 9:00pm nightly.

May I add - I am welcomed - as all patrons are - at the door by smiling
Waiters and a hello wave from the Bar Manager. I smile back and appreciate their welcome!

I cannot explain your belief that the La Cage Bar Manager is "so miserable"...to you...
however...

I do take a fresh shower, shave and put on a good deodorant & after shave ...
along with clean clothes when I go out in the evening.

As for the partner - Michael, I have seen him in the Bar La Cage 4 out of the past 5 nights.
Again, always welcoming and chatting with his customers during the evening... a real friendly chap!

Might I suggest the next time you enter Bar La Cage - SMILE and say HELLO to the Staff -
including the Bar Manager...

I have found a smile goes a long way in Thailand :-)

I'm so pleased to see so much support for the bar, wont deny I'm an odd ball.l did say, l liked Mike, (very much actually) he also has a friend from Holland, who is one of the nicest guys l have ever met, so it's obvious he keeps good company.
Maybe the 2 weeks l was there it was a quiet a period.
As of smiling, afraid, l always have, but if l get a grumpy look back, l don't bother. But l do take the hint about having a wash..there could be a problem there., never thought of after shave, must find some Brut, and splash it all over.
I've still a lot to learn about Thailand and I've been coming here 29 years.
Long may you all prosper, and it's certainly shows where mike's Friends are, and that is nice.

Sorry if l have upset anyone, lets hope when l go past again this week there will be something to smile for,
but no happy hours thank you. Just a Heineken.

Then, as a new poster with a lot of history under your belt, I'm looking forward to some interesting posts, perspectives and stories of how things were and how they have changed as we all have something to learn too.

Hiya TrongpaiExpat,
When l first started coming to Pattaya, in 79, there really was no gay scene, or if there was it was well hidden. The only place that l first heard of was Gentleman's Club, and the notorious Siren Bar (and it use to stink of (real)fish.
There was a North pattaya, but the population was so small and the bars were not big like they are now. There was nothing to go to North Pattaya for.
I use to go in Daves GB Bar, back in 80's, and l remember this guy coming in and telling Dave as he knew his bar was being knocked down, if he wanted a shop unit in the Royal garden, so in theory the bar where l was sat is now Royal garden Plaza.
Needles to say, he didn't get a unit.
I do remember Fra Pattaya (spelling) being there.

I'm full of useless info.
Shake me and something different comes out every time.
