View Full Version : Sticky Rice Magazine - new name competition

February 21st, 2006, 21:29
"We are interested in choosing a good name to reflect the more upmarket theme of where I am taking my national Gay magazine is important to us. However, I would like to give you a hint at what I am actually looking for, if you want to help choose a new name and win the 2 nights at a hotel in Phuket or Bangkok (or if you will not want that, I can exchange for a grand dinner at nice restaurant in Pattaya.

If you want to name it, It should be Asian or Thai oriented, like using Thai or Siam in the title, and maybe a play on words or have a double meaning, some examples are The Gay Scene could be "Siam Scene" or in "Rice Paper", Paper can also mean newspaper or magazine. Do not use my examples as these have already been sent in. The contest closes March 5th. Good luck & see if you can win the 2 nights at the Tarntawan Hotel!"

Some might assume it to be the biography of one of our posters who, thanks to the ignore button, enjoys a dwindling audience.

I have read this little rag for many a year , my observations are that its a magazine aimed solely at falangs expats ,

Its not representative of the Thai gay male , ! It's Thailand from a western mans view ,IE go go bars and smutty sex reviews ,and pimps advertising their businesses,
,most of the articles written are juvenile to say the least, little more than comic style

,did Connie lingus have a real life or does she [or he] live in a fantasy world-with Dorothy-trundling her yellow brick road ,

don't insult the Thai nation by calling naming it Siam -or Thai or some thing in the title,---------because you are heading down the road of being barred again,

its a falang magazine-Not Thai------------have respect for this nation, Sticky Rice suits its seedy-ness,
call it

"FALANG RAINBOW"--------"FALANG FANTASIES"---"FALANGS-DREAM"---- "DOROTHY'S NEWS"

My choice......

"Rice and Potatoes"

The government officials will thinks it's a culinary magazine. For those not in the know:

Rice = Slang term for those of Asian or Pacifi Island descent.

Potatoes = Those of Euopean descent (farangs)
