Major Government Inspection of High-Rise buildings to begin soon.

On Wednesday Morning at Pattaya City Hall, Khun Niran, the Mayor of Pattaya chaired a meeting organized by the Construction Services Plus Company from Bangkok who have been employed by Central Government in Bangkok to inspect high rise buildings in Pattaya to ensure they are safe and have been constructed in conformance with building regulations. The company will also be looking for construction licenses which should have been obtained prior to construction. They are not revealing the names of the buildings they are going to check however we do know that the buildings that will be checked will consist of 80 rooms and above and will cover an area of more than 200 sq meters. The company performs these checks every year, however every 5 years a more detailed inspection takes place and it is this detailed check which was discussed at the meeting. If you would like to contact the organization to find out more about their work here in Pattaya, please call 02 946 0084-5.

hmm... I wonder if they will also go to Mabprachan to look at the retired General's high-rise hotel, for which, being completely in violation of all building codes, he never even bothered to file for a building permit.

Well, if this inspection crew is as competent as the last ones, we had better leave out sweets, colouring books and crayons.
