View Full Version : Farewell to Brian 'Boxer' Wigley, a few photos

November 26th, 2007, 14:21
Many friends and family attended to pay their last respects to Brian "Boxer" Wigley at Wat Chai temple Pattaya. The Buddhist ceremony is very charming and the baroque temples, bright sunshine, twittering of the birds and the mass of floral tributes it seemed an very fitting way to say goodbye.

I took a few photos so that those unable to attend could get a glimpse of the event. There had been prayer services the day previous and this morning. The cremation is shown. Those attending receive a paper flower and go up the stairs to the coffin where you pay your last respects and place the flower beneath the coffin. The family throw small coins and sweets down and these are quickly collected by the children.

Then the coffin is moved into the crematorium and we waited and said our last farewells until smoke rose from the chimney.

A very sad loss for all of us.

Brian was a true gentleman and a man of high honor. He always delighted all with his photo reports on people, places and events. Whether by email or face-to-face, he always extended himself to ensure the happiness and consideration of others.

He will be missed and always remembered.
