No, you are thinking of Princess Sirindhorn (photo). The sick princess is one I've not heard of.

You can read about the King's entire family here: http://www.soravij.com/rama9.html . Reading down the list there, it looks as though the princess in hospital is the King's sister.

At the very bottom of that page link you'll see a photo of Khun Poom (in dark sunglasses) who was one of the King's grandsons, and was killed in the tsunami in 2004.

The sick one is the King's 84 year-old sister.

They will have a real conundrum on their hands if she dies before the King's birthday. How to celebrate and mourn at the same time?
