Russian investor accused of underage sex

A Russian businessman who has plans to develop an island off the coast of Sihanoukville was arrested at his home and charged with debauchery following a three month investigation into a complaint by the parents of a 14-year-old Cambodian girl.

Alexander Trofimov was apprehended at 10 am October 17 in his Sihanoukville home on a warrant from October 16 following complaints from the girl's family who claimed she had been sold to Trofimov by a middleman.

Trofimov, 41, arrived for questioning at the Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Thursday morning. The court prosecutor said he had been charged with debauchery, the legal term in Cambodia for sex crimes with a minor.

"With the evidence that we gathered from our investigation we believe that it will be enough to convict him and bring him to justice," said Bith Kim Hong, chief of anti-trafficking department of the Ministry of Interior, who investigated the case.

Hong said the family of the girl filed a complaint to the courts because their daughter was sold to Trofimov in 2005 by 34-year-old Phal Vannara. Vannara was arrested on September 3. He is in jail.

The girl had been tricked by Vannara, Hong said. She escaped from Trofimov's home and went to police.

No further details were available.

Investigation into this and six other cases by the anti-trafficking department and International Justice Missions (IJM) began in July, Hong said.

He said his department is currently filing a new complaint with a Sihanoukville court regarding an offense, which he said took place a few weeks ago. The new case involves a 13-year-old Sihanoukville girl.

The five other alleged victims are also from Sihanoukville. Complaints have not yet been filed in those cases.

IJM's field office director Patrick Stayton had no comment on whether or not further charges would be made, saying those decisions will be made by the courts.

Trofimov, who has had no previous charges for sex offences, was escorted from the court room and taken to Prey Sar Prison. He had no comment.

He is chairman of the Koh Puos Investment Group (KPIG).

Trofimov in September 2006 announced plans to invest $300 million into the development of Sihanoukville's Koh Puos or Snake Island, following the signing of the lease agreement last year. The plans included the construction of a luxury hotel and restaurant, bungalows, parks and a bridge connecting the island to Hawaii beach.

..., ttom writing on his favourite obsession. Are you still in the closet on this one, ttom (and perhaps in denial even to yourself), or are you ready to bare your soul to us all? I'd recommend Our Resident Boddhisattva, George to provide some counseling here, but unfortunately he left The Second Noble Truth ("the cause of Suffering is to be in denial about yourself") on the buffet when he raided the table for the bits of Buddhism he finds most comfortable. But back to you, old chap. 'Fess up - you'll feel much better for it afterwards

I just love the words they use for these things and the focus on what took place.

It is amazing that despite the fact that a kidnap and the sale of a human is involved, the focus is on the sex! I take it that Cambodia has no laws against slavery and kidnap, or that they are very minor affairs in their eyes?

And they are calling the sex in the charge "debauchery"? The last time I heard someone accused of "debauchery" was in reference to what Rimbaud and Verlaine were up to in Paris in the 19th century. (And oddly enough, I think Rimbaud too was 14 when he ran off to be with Verlaine.)

Of course any right thinking person will realize that kidnapping and slavery are trivial when compared to having an orgasm.

There is something really fishy about this whole story since it says that the kidnapper snatched the girl in 2005, and all this is coming to light now, two years later? No one noticed until now? I won't speculate into exactly what it might be, but there's a lot more to this story, take my word for it, and I'm sure anyone living for even a few months in Asia can guess.

Remember the Justin Berry hoax that had everyone falling all over themselves with worry about on-line "pedophiles"? A woman, Susie Bright, writing about that hoax said this in her article just published earlier this month:

"There's two phrases, that for me, will always describe the Bush Years: 'Weapons of Mass Destruction,' and 'Child Porn.' Our fears of annihilation and our children's future being crushed were both hinged on these two ... hoaxes."

Is it just me, or does this story concern neither "gay" nor "Thailand"?

October 30th, 2007, 21:37
It may not be "gay" and it may not be "Thailand", but it is "that" topic again!

So there is a bit of consistency after all.

as it's neither gay or thailand what has it to do with this forum!

Our highly esteemed member ttom introduced this thread. Why not ask him?
Maybe Cambodia is right next to Thailand?
Maybe because it has to do with a Russian and the "straight" Russian Mafia, it has been suggested, is invading Pattaya?
Maybe it is the topic, an all time favourite on this board, UNDERAGE SEX?
Maybe in ttom's mind all of this somehow is relevant to Thailand or "gay" and he also has problems with that test where you have to draw a line from the hammer to the nail, and from the apple to the tree?

Our highly esteemed member ttom introduced this thread. Why not ask him? You've missed the obvious one - he's obsessed by the topic and scours the news media for every reference which he then starts as a new thread. My own post gives the clearest reason for this obsession of his

OK Homintern.

Now I see.
Draw the line from the nail to the hammer.
Draw the line from the apple to the tree.

But how do we draw the line from "gay" Thailand to Cambodia and teenage nymphets?

I guess ttom must have made a wrong turn at the border. Maybe we get a clearer picture from ttom's avatar.

This psychological test is getting to be too much for me. I'm ready for a drink... a double! And at a "gay" bar in Thailand and that should be enough to bring this thread back on-topic for this forum.

Ttom obviously believes the story has some relevance for him. The rest of us can move on.

Valued members should be aware that the public doesn’t tolerate any child abuse and even financial wealth doesn’t ensure protection anymore. People are alertet. The awareness is growing. People are alertet.

Those of us who are not pedophiles, and I would put it to you that is 99% of the people here, know that. Why do you need to keep on and on about it for? I for one am not interested in these endless stories about pedophiles. Let the police and the authorities deal with it. Pedophilia has nothing to do with homosexuality. Why do you keep bringing it up all the time as though it does? Perhaps that's what you think?

On this forum, we enlightened people all know that absolutely no one under 18 (and under 20 in the BKK bars) wants or likes sex! (And even if they like it, we must "protect" them from it.) Further, we all know that if a boy under 18 (under 20 in BKK bars) ever has his genitalia touched by a disgusting and perverted pedophile (sic) he will be destroyed for life! The agony of such a catastrophic experience will leave the youth psychologically maimed and marred for life.

We all know with absolute certainty that for a man to even touch a boy under 18 (20 in the BKK bars) is a crime worse than "murder! We know this because the "experts" such as social workers, NGOs, police, news media, all of whom make a big bundle of money on keeping the hysteria going, have told us so. This is now a huge global industry, just like the "war on drugs", that other great hoax.

Do you think that we would be so stupid as to listen to someone like Emil M. L. Ng, M.D., Department of Psychiatry, University of Hong Kong, Queen Mary Hospital, Pokfulam Road, Hong Kong, People's Republic of China when he writes this in his essay entitled "Pedophilia from the Chinese Perspective":

"In traditional Chinese medicine, there has never been a mental disease akin
to, or called, pedophilia or homosexuality or most of the so-called sexual variations for that matter."

Or when he goes on to say:

"to the Chinese, who are particularly conscious of the importance and priority of
social (and hence, adult) values, to single out for discussion the child
consent issue in pedophilic activities is blatantly irrelevant and
hypocritical. Even in Western culture, where individual human rights are
strongly emphasized, how often do the adults try to ascertain valid consent
from their children before getting them to do most things? Have the adults
sought valid consent from their children before baptizing them soon after
birth? Or, when their children express by words or action that they do not
want to eat, sleep, play games with adults, or go to school at certain
times, do the adults not use reward, threat, punishment, persuasion,
luring, seduction, deception, or any other workable means to manipulate
them back to the "right track"? Have the adults ever explored and studied
the "trauma" that may be caused by forcing all those "good" things on to
their children without their valid consent? There are certain occasions
when the adults do respect the children's wishes and ask for their consent,
but only when the choices given to them are within the adult acceptable
range."

Long time not read such a lot of bullshit

Peter48,

The part you have quoted is indeed "bullshit". That was its point! This is called irony. It is made ironic by the quote that follows what you have noted.

OK?

You list HK as one of your locations. Why not stop by the Department of Psychiatry, University of Hong Kong, Queen Mary Hospital, and have tea with Emil M. L. Ng, M.D. and further discuss the fine points of his psychiatric studies.

as for this...

"the "straight" Russian Mafia, it has been suggested, is invading Pattaya? "

I've seen so many straight Russians in Pattaya that I've begged (mentally) to be invaded by.

The Justin Berry saga is very interesting Keystone. The last I heard-around 50 of Berry's "customers" were planning a class action against him and the FBI, claiming an illegal conspiracy by Berry to induce them to join what appeared to be a genuinely legal website , aided by the FBI.
