JK Rowlings (author of the Harry Potter series) recently told an audience that one of her main characters in the book was gay. She outed Albus Dumbledore. It may not sound like a big deal but the Harry Potter series is very much beloved around the world. The reaction from what I can tell was generally positive. I think this is another positive sign that gays and lesbians are becoming more and more accepted in the industrialized western world.
