View Full Version : Car hire with driver in Chiang Mai

October 8th, 2007, 16:36
Gay friend of mine is making second visit to Thailand for the whole of next month (his first visit was a stop-over for 3 days in Bangkok during a business trip). Have filled him in on where/what/how etc in Pattaya.

He is, however, going to Chiang Mai for 5 days and is looking for a reliable daytime car hire with English speaking driver for 2 or 3 of those days.

Anyone got any recommendation/info/phone numbers/web site where this can be arranged together with an estimate of the cost of hire with driver for, say, 6-8 hours each day (less fuel costs) ?

Have your friend log onto www.stickyrice.com (http://www.stickyrice.com) and go to the contact area. There were contacts listed under Chiang Mai, one being a Ben who has worked several years at tours.

I have hired Ben on several occasions and have been very pleased with his service. But upon seeing this thread, I clicked on to his webpage only to find that it is disabled. Does anyone have any current info about Ben? Hopefully, he hasn't had to close his business. If he's still operating, I'd recommend him highly.

I was PM'd to say that 'Ben' is unreliable in that he will not turn up after making a booking to provide service if he in the meantime gets a 'better offer'.

Tks for replies anyway, friend has contacted his hotel and they are providing him with a car/driver for his needs - (although, to me, quote looks a bit expensive but he seems to be happy with it).

I heard from Ben recently. He had a motorbike accident that put him out of commission for a couple of weeks. He is healed and available for hire again.
