hotel Chiang Mai and Koh Samui

In feb 2008 I will go to Thailand.
Who can advise me about a good 3 or 4 star
gay friendly hotel with swimming pool in
Chiang Mai (near the gay scene) and in
Koh Samui, Chaweng Beach.

For Koh Samui I would highly recommend the Renaissance. Not exactly the location you want, but the hotel car will be glad to take you to and from. I would say the hotel is gay neutral. BF and I found it totally romantic, including the very private beach. We had a private villa with a plunge pool that had a wonderful view of the water. The privacy allowed for frolicking and lounging au natural.

For Chiangmai, I'd still recommend the Porn Ping. Nice place, pretty decent pool, and about a block away from the gay night market bars. Not a gay place but no hassles at all.

Btw, if you're up in CM early in February, the Flower Festival/Parade is usually the first weekend of February....and goes across Narawat Bridge and down Taipae Road one block north of the Porn Ping.

In Chiang Mai I will stay at D2 . Nice hotel and I have found a good price, although it's rather expensive.
