The Prime Minister of New Zealand is calling for the Union Jack to be removed from New Zealand's flag.

Clark stimulates flag debate with call to rub out Union Jack

I'm afraid this is old news. I had already informed Forum members that I was in Nw Zlnd, counseling Comrade Helen, in the thread where Aunty had reassured you all of the truth and value of every word I write - http://www.sawatdee-gay-thailand.com/fo ... 46-30.html (http://www.sawatdee-gay-thailand.com/forum/in-reply-to-homintern-s-comment-on-billy-s-disappearen-t12846-30.html)

Why let me know where you are, Beryl, and I'll arrange a meeting. Do you mind if I bring some friends along? I'll stop off on my way at the lab and pick up a few bits and pieces that I'm sure you'll find most interesting.

Catching up with a recent One Night Stand of yours (conversation previously reported) was about as close as I want to get to my half-sister's family

LMAO. That's what you think! In fact, you are proof of it!

Back to square one.......

The Union Flag, which currently is part of the NZ and OZ flags only adopts the term "Jack" when it is flown on the Jack Mast of a sea vessel.

It's current form (post 1805) is after the annexing of Ireland when the Red diagonals of Patrick were added.

Yes the Sandwich Islands :clown:

Funny thing about the Sandwich Islands is you can't get a really decent cucumber sandwich there, and darjeeling is frightfully difficult to find.

Yes and it may interest you to know that the Australian flag is a copy of the New Zealand original, which was first flown in 1869 on NZ ships. The Australian flag was introduced in 1901.

Here are some suggested alternatives.

This IMHO is the best alternative for Australia.

Maybe New Zealand can go down the same road with this one....

I really don't see why New Zealand has to have a flag other than Australia's flag any way, New Zealand is only a subsiduary state of Australia. The natives don't want to live there...they all end up in Queensland. Helen Clark is the most powerful man in politics in NZ I have ever seen. The weather is shite! The place is overrun by violent, ferral and ignorant natives. Given the chance I would build the great wall of Australia and keep the low life bastards East of the Tasman.
A flag is wasted on them!

New Zealand is only a subsiduary state of AustraliaQuite correct, aussieal - in fact the Australian Constitution clearly sets out Nw Zlnd's status as a state of the Commonwealth of Australia - all they have to do is sign up for it, the way the big boys did back in 1900. I think of Nw Zlnd as rather like Western Australia - can't make up their minds whether they want to belong or otherwise, a long way away from anywhere important (ie. Sydney) and run by third-rate politicians who lack the ability to hack it in Canberra

I wish you would build a wall keeping New Zealanders out of Australia, aussieal, but it appears your Government (successive ones at that) fail to share your views. They seem to be more than happy to continue to bludge off the New Zealand taxpayer by taking New Zealand trained professionals without so much as a murmur of dissent. I would be more than happy if the Australian Government changed its rules and required immigrants from New Zealand to follow the same visa rules that it requires all other potential immigrants to Australia from all other countries to follow. But it just wonтАЩt do it. No, any New Zealander can just flash their Kiwi passport at Aussie immigration and walk straight on in, permanently. Why on earth would Australia do that? Could it possibly be true? That when a Kiwi crosses the Tasman, the average IQ raises on both sides of it? Bizarre. But as the Thai would say, up to you!

Of course, if New Zealand was a State of Australia, it would be the third largest state after NSW and Victoria. Given how incredibly tiny we are, Aussieal, it doesnтАЩt say much for the real size of Australia, does it? Is that why you cling so tightly to the trousers of Uncle Sam?

Quite right Aunty. It always comes back to that old six inch measure. It would seem they make smaller rulers in Oz. Besides which those buggers measure from the underside. More cheap tricks?

Geography is NOT your strong point, but I wouldn't expect any less from 2nd rate Pommie's.
I think if you weigh up the options in governments the USA has a clearer agenda than the archaic British system. Why don't ou all migrate to G.B. and see how far you get?
New Zealand trained professionals....LOL.
"bludging off the New Zealand taxpayer"....what a laugh....what do you think the majority of fukn' Kiwi's are doing here in Australia???????
If New Zealand is so fucking great, why have we got so many fuckin' Kiwi's in Australia??????????????

My ancestors paid a passage to New Zealand in 1840..

A lot of the early Australians were sent by GB as a way of ridding themselves of penal rejects.

I heard it said recently that net migration of ethnic Britons is currently positive. New Zealand is a strongly favoured destination. The youth of the RSA seem to account for a large portion of the inward flow.

I paid my passage, in fact went overland, to Australia in July 1972....

Left and flew back to civilisation in January 1973

The ultimate superiority of the great colonial powers over the antipodean rabble was evidenced in Cardiff and Marseille last Saturday. What marvelous victories!

Oh come on Allipat...THE ALL BLACKS should have been able to overcome a couple of questionable calls...............Spoiled brats with too much pressure put on them. Team needs the help of better sports psychologists...nothing wrong with their technical skills

Actually I prefer more Asian coloring.

Not into the big rugby types.
