Travellerjim,

Am I getting something wrong? I take the deposit plus the 24 monthly payments at "0%" and it adds up to quite a bit more than the cash price

e.g.

Ford Focus

Deposit 161,800
24 monthly payments @ 29,967 = 719,208

Total 881,008
Cash 809,000

0%? 72,008

OOPS...My error...I have corrected my post above:

Should read:

Ford Focus:

809,000 baht purchase price
with 20% cash down of 161,800 baht
leaving 647,200 baht to finance...
24 months @ 0% interest @ 26,967 baht monthly...(NOT 29,967 as originally posted);
36 months @ 2.2% interest @ 19,056 baht monthly;
48 months @ 2.7% interest @ 14,832 baht monthly.

Thanks Wowpow-Beta for your observant reading of my original post.

Lunchtime...

I gather you have not shopped for a new car in Thailand...
It is very difficult - nearly impossible for Expats to get financing...

That is why I posted this NEW Ford Expatriates deal
as FORD Thailand have just made in their advertised announcement - Bangkok Post.

If one goes to Toyota...
they do finance Expatriates...
with or without a work permit...
the only major company I know of that does...
but they require a Thai guarantor..
and the Car is in Thai name..not your etc.

Hondo requires a work permit...
so I was told.

I am hoping to alert our board readers there has been a change!

I welcome the change...
I believe it is a step in the right direction in Thailand.

Now, Lunchtime....
you can go back to your usual board readings :-)

Interesting subject, Thank's for the info.

TJ,
I was in the Pattaya Honda dealership in July, and they told me for Foreigner Financing a Retirement Visa and a Thai guarantor would be sufficient. I have an American friend who financed his vehicle (BMW) with a Financing Company without a Thai guarantor (so he told me). Its good news from Ford, so perhaps the other Car Companies will now start to finance without the need for Thai guarantor.

I have a Ford Focus 2.0 Sport. I have had it for about a year. I would highly recommend looking at the Ford Focus. The expate financing is a great deal. My previous car in Thailand was a 1996 Ford Laser 3-door. It was a low maintenance car. lots of power, good handling.

For anyone interested.

I am selling a Ford Laser. This is a car I have used myself. It is 2003 model 1.6 LXi Automatic, Colour is brown 110,000 kms.
It is a nice executive car with many extras, Wood trim interior, full leather seats, remote control CD/radio, electric windows, electric wing mirrors, reversing sensors, rear spoiler, 4 brand new tyres, regular serviced and full service history with Ford, blue book, tax and insured.

Price 395,000 Baht and I would consider financing it at 50% down payment the balance over 12 months at 17,500 p/m

Anyone interested send me a message.

Hello John,

Is this your car appearing on the Expats Motors website?
I assume it is...the 2003 Ford Laser...top row - second from left photo.

Looks nice :-)
