No one deserves such a blow.
Was this the guy in the Army? The one in the avatar who won the contest and was in Thai Guys?
I've never met LMTU but its almost as if I know his boyfriend from all the stories.

May his next life be more blessed than this one.

A VERY SAD LOSS

So desperately sad and wasteful.

Local Press reports

"Karaoke Bar Employee shot dead in front of his bar in South Pattaya.
┬а
Police Lieutenant Colonel Tanargit from Pattaya Police Station was called to the front of the Bang Pub in Soi Day Night 1 in South Pattaya just after 7am on Wednesday to investigate reports of a shooting at the location which led to the death of an employee of the Pub. The Officer made his way to the Pattaya Memorial Hospital to inspect the body of Khun Prongtaerp aged 19. He had sustained a gun shot wound to his head and was pronounced dead-on-arrival at Hospital. Back at the scene officer recovered bullet casings and examined CCTV pictures from a camera located outside the Bar. Two men on a motorbike were seen passing the Bar and the passenger produced a Gun and shot the victim. Witnesses explained that moments before the shooting, three men on a further bike drove past the bar and pointed in the direction of the victim. He apparently thought nothing of it and made his way to a local convenience store and was shot as he returned to the bar. Police have few clues as to any motive behind the shooting and are continuing their investigation into this murder.

I had a son killed just before his 14th birthday

The years since then do not make it any easier

My biggest problem was the people whose grief in their opinion, was greater than ours

Forget those whose loss is not relevant

Try and remember the highlights of your life together. Forget those whose grief is not sincere.

We had a private funeral for our son and I do not regret it.

Not sure if it is an appropiate song, but I listen to it often and I find it lifts my spirits.

I am heading out to Thailand on the 1st September, let me know if I can do anything for you while there.

I don't want to make this thread a video condoleance register, but a song that is very apropiate here is the song Our Farewell , and well because the message from this song and also the last line is , this is NOT our farewell.

OUR FAREWELL (http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/our+farewell/video/xdgq1_oh-my-goddes-our-farewell_music)

In my hands
A legacy of memories
I can hear you say my name
I can almost see your smile
Feel the warmth of your embrace
But there is nothing but silence now
Around the one I loved
Is this our farewell?

Sweet darling you worry too much, my child
See the sadness in your eyes
You are not alone in life
Although you might think that you are

Never thought
This day would come so soon
We had no time to say goodbye
How can the world just carry on?
I feel so lost when you are not by my side
But there's nothing but silence now
Around the one I loved
Is this our farewell?

So sorry your world is tumbling down
I will watch you through these nights
Rest your head and go to sleep
Because my child, this not our farewell.
This is not our farewell.

ItтАЩs unbelievable what I see written here, so aimless and demoralizing that it hurts me too the core to see and understand the pain and hurt.

I've been though this it changed my whole life I hope you are able to deal with it better than I was.
I feel as though after almost 25 years now it will never be the same with out him.
I share both your grief and pain.

Please know you were loved are still are and that in your heart and mind of every individual that knew him in many ways he still lives on.

LMTU sent me an email about the shooting and it's just hit me who it was.

This is absolutely terrible..what a charming lad he was and he's stuck through thick and thin with LMTU ..

I'm so sorry LMTU..what a terrible loss for you just as things are coming together.

He's another star in Heaven now...and he'll be your protector .I know you believe in Karma-but we will never know why it was this lads time to leave this plane so early in his life.

Despite the image probably many posters have of LMTU-those who have met him and know him well know that he is one very special person-a rare treasure.

You still have so many friends who are incredibly fond of you LMTU-there are many of us who know of your wonderful kindness and generosity over the last 30 years I've known you. We are all sending you our love

NB: LMTU told me only a few days ago he was having trouble accessing Sawatdee ( cyber cops etc) and may not even be able to read this thread but he is able to access Gay Thailand.

.... in anyone's books. Both for this young man, and yourself.

No one, on this big old world, deserves what happened to him . . . and then, later ~ as heart-busting byproduct ~ what happens to those close to him.

Please take care of yourself.

KILLERS OF KARAOKE STAFF MEMBER ARRESTED; VOLUNTEER POLICE WAS INVOLVED
Police arrested the man who shot and killed a karaoke staff member. A volunteer policeman was involved in the killing. The shooter confessed that he was drunk and riding a motorbike back home when he passed the karaoke bar and got into a belligerent conversation with Mr. Pongthep, the victim. They already had an earlier conflict. Still angry over the previous encounter, he came back to kill Mr. Pongthep.

In a previous story, we reported the case of two men on a motorbike who shot and murdered the karaoke staff member in front of Sun Dance Karaoke Bar on Soi Day-Night on 8 August 2007. Police reviewed the CCTV camera and were able to identify the face of the shooter. On 9 August 2007 at 2:30 PM, Police Colonel Phairat Suphasawas, Deputy Superintendent, Chonburi and the investigation team joined to announce the arrest of Mr. Seksan Glinhom, nickname "A" (19), Mr. Goragorn Sae-Guen, nickname "Dook" (19) and Mr. Phamorn Janboonrueng, nickname "To" (20), who were charged with conspiracy to murder Mr. Pongthep Phanisen, a karaoke bar staff member.

The three men were hiding at Boon-Laor Flat, in Rayong province. Police arrested them with the evidence of a gun and a bullet, a black and blue Honda Click motorbike, license 581, Chonburi, which they used when they shot Mr. Pongthep. The investigation also determined that the gang has committed crimes around the Pattaya area.

Moreover, Sriracha police also held an arrest warrant for another four people in the same gang. They are Mr. Apidej Poota, nickname, "Jo", a Volunteer Police officer, Class No. 3 (23), Mr. Nathawut Chompoo, nickname "Note" (17), Mr. Chatchai Insa-ad, nickname "O" (18) and Mr. Somporn Simaghong, nickname "Rud" (26), with the evidence of a gun, four mobile phones and four motorbikes. All of them have committed many crimes in Pattaya with the assistance of the gang member who is a volunteer policeman.

Police had Mr. Seksan, Mr. Goragorn and Mr. Phamorn describe the killing in front of several witnesses. The three of them were involved in the first encounter with the victim. On the night of the murder, two of the original three returned. Mr. Gorn was the motorbike rider and Mr. Seksan was the shooter. They confessed that they had been drinking at a bar on the same Soi, two hundred meters away from Sun Dance Karaoke, and had become drunk. As they had an earlier conflict with Mr. Pongthep and other staff members, they went back to their room and borrowed a gun from Mr. Aphidej or "Jo" who is a volunteer policeman, and came back to kill Mr. Pongthep.

Pol.Col. Phairat Suphasawas, Deputy Superintendent, Chonburi, revealed that the gang has the history of criminal cases. With the assistance of a friend who is a volunteer policeman, who checked for police movement before they committed their crimes, they usually were able to get away without getting caught. Police will work with the Volunteer Police to better screen candidates for the Volunteer Police. Any Volunteer Police officers who are involved in crimes will receive severe punishment.

..., it seems some very hot words were exchanged before the murderer returned with a gun. "

He was a very gentle lad..I can't believe he could upset someone too much but if his killers were drunk..anything can happen.

But you are correct in your advice to always remain cool. This is so awfully ironic considering LMTU- a large man very capable of physically taking care of himself-is also a master at diffusing volatile situations..he's always "talking me down" when too much vodka has kicked in and I get over-excited about some alleged slight.

I am also sorry for your loss. It is a terrible way to be reminded how quickly and tragically, life can simply end, as it did for your friend. It also serves as a reminder to be aware of what goes on around us and to remember violence and cruelty can strike anywhere, any time, any one. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings. Our thoughts are with you as well even if we don't know you personally.

Also thank you for writing about the cremation ceremony. I can only imagine how difficult it was to write about it.

Kindest regards

Cherish the beautiful moments you shared with each other,
Condolences from TJ and my Thai bf...our prayers are with you!

Thank you for sharing your experiences from this terrible tragedy,
as difficult as it must be to write,
so we may better understand the Thai and Buddhist cultures surrounding
the loss of a loved one.

Let's not. This thread is about breaking the sad news. The other thread is more about the Isaan funeral rites. Both subjects may appear on either thread, but we need to allow people to express their feelings freely at a time like this.
