You'll probably be taken to task for some of these points, Rainwalker, but a friend who makes such trips emailed me a few minutes ago to say your list is a great overview for someone who's making their first trip to LOS for a "play" holiday.

Remembering that people are people and not objects and treating them as you would like to be treated is usually the best policy.

Now I'll get out of the way and let the usual pissers lift their leg to "spray" here.

Lots of people who live here are very happy with occasional visits to the whore providers. To even imply that daily visits to those places is something that is a requisite for happiness for people living in Thailand is ridiculous.

A middle aged countryman of mine has the attitude of

Find them, feel them, fool them, fuck them, forget them

He does not feel embarrassed to walk into a bar and the boys ignore him.

he knows there are desperate boys who will go with him, as they need the money

An older friend almost 70 selects a bar to make as his base for his visit, and cultivates the boys as friends

he often slips 20 baht to any boys that might not have eaten.

he asks who has not had many offs and has a play and gives a good tip

he buys a bottle of thai whisky and shares it with the boys

he buys a prepaid phone and has cards printed with his phone number

if a new boy needs a bed or a meal he pays a spotter fee to the boy who rings him as well as a tip

he states "if you treat the boys with respect, they will respect you"
