I have copied it here - many know of Ernst and his Cafe Ole'

from Gay Thailand: by Gaybutton....

Many of you are familiar with the Ol├й Restaurant in Pattaya, especially those wonderful buffets at such a reasonable price every Wednesday. Yesterday (Saturday), Ernst, the owner, suffered a massive heart attack.

At first we were told he had died. That, thankfully, turned out not to be true.
Our latest information is that he is in Bangkok-Pattaya Hospital, in bad shape but at least alive.

I don't have any more information beyond that, at this point. When more information becomes available I will let you know.

Followup posting by Gaybutton this Sunday afternoon:

"I am deeply saddened to report that the initial information we received was indeed true
and Ernst died on Saturday at 10:00 AM. We received this confirmation this afternoon from his wife.

She did tell us that she intends to keep the restaurant open and operating as always.

Rest in Peace Ernst...

I can't stress how important it is for guys over 50 to take a treadmill stress test everycouple of years to find these problems BEFORE the massive heart attacks. Especially if you have a family history of heart disease or you are overweight, smoke and other risk factors. 60% of the time, the FIRST sign of heart disease in men is a massive heart attack resulting in major heart damage or death. Don't be one of the statistics. Eveyone on my Fathers side of the family died in their early 60s of a heart attack. My father had a stress test at 62, resulting in a 4 way bypass. He's 85 this year and his heart is fine (the mind's going.. but thats another matter LOL)

Many of us know Ole and Ernst from his old location in Day-Nite.

Ernst's Thai wife is instrumental in running Ole and I am sure she will continue
while Ernst is recovering.

Yep. And don't use the funny blue pills ending with ..agra since they can have especially in combinations with alcohol very nasty side effects, including heart attacks.

Ttom should post anything he feels has a basis in fact. I have recently lost an old friend to a heart attack and know that not all the viagra that he used was by prescription.

JackNasty wisely suggests a stress test to detect heart problems. but don't stop there. Stress tests, electocardiograms, echocardiograms, and blood tests can easily miss the signs of heart disease. The best test is a Cardiac CAT scan which detects the presence of plaque/calcium buildup on the coronary arteries. It is quick, simple, painless and reasonably inexpensive. About $300 USD and available in Thailand. The test will quickly identify your risk level and you will be able to do something before it is too late. This test should be taken by all regardless of age. At 40 Baht per day over the course of one year it is a bargain and a lifesaver.

The Cardiac CAT Scan is great. I had one myself about a year ago. About $400. As for using Viagra... Viagra actually Lowers blood pressure. It does not cause Heart attacks. Its the SEX resulting from using the Viagra that can kill someone who's heart is not in shape for vigrous excercise of any kind. This is why you never take Viagra with Poppers. They both lower your blood pressure, and together can lower it to a leathel level.

Viagra and antihypertensives taken together can lower your blood pressure to dangerous even fatal levels.
