May 19th, 2007, 16:41
Hi! I'm planning to stay in Pattaya during that period as a Thai friend has invited me at his place and I'd like to know if the weather conditions are ok? Is it still the rain season? Is it sunny? I know it's difficult to predict exact weather of course but please can you indicate the tendencies at that period? thanks in advance!

Yes and yes to both of those questions jeffmars. Not a time to come if extremely hot conditions bother you as well.

Hard to tell Jeff.
Weather is and seasons are changing. At this moment it should be very hot (summer season), but over the last 2 weeks it rained almost constantly.
The expectations are that in a few years there will be no seasons anymore. In other words: very hard to predict the weather over here.

Rainy season doesn't mean is constantly raining all day and night. Expect occasionally hot days, usually with some rain during late nights and early mornings. Maybe one a week or so thunder storms during afternoons. If rain starts, it’s usually heavy, lasting one to two hours. Therefore statistic's are misleading.

The number of Western tourists will drop significantly. But this I found always very pleasant.

Yes folks this unpredictable weather we're having here in Pattaya is because of George Bush's policy (or No Policy) on Global Warming... just watch this 3 1/2 minutes testament - I'm sure you'll agree with me:

August gets busy, sometimes more farang than boys,

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u152/GeorgeThai/eek.gif More farangs than boys? If you are seeing more farangs than Thai boys in August, my recommendation would be to cease whatever medication you are currently on, or alternatively, pay a visit to the opticians. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u152/GeorgeThai/cool_shades.gif

Now you may well come to that conclusion Jetsam, but as to whether or not I believe that you are correct in your assumption, I of course could not possibly comment. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u152/GeorgeThai/whistle.gif

August is also start of high season and you will find a lot of farang starting to arrive.
June is the slowest month in Thailand,July is starting to get busy with farangs who are on school holidays and school vacations in their own country.August is where you will find farang arriving again and September it will start to get booked out.

This sounds more like wishful thinking …

Beaches are getting busier as soon as the Thai school holiday starting in October.

It is very difficult to know what is happening with tourist numbers. They are shifting around and now several new markets are hitting Thailand the Chinese, Russians and Finns in particular.

Last year everyone said that the number of gay tourists was down in Summer. Maybe - I wonder where they went?

It's for sure that June is a low season month and July, August and into September are busier. Just have a look at the airline fares. They soar at the end of June as the European holiday season kicks in.

What will the weather be? Well if I knew that I would be very rich indeed. The weather has always varied enormously but these days the variations are historic. Saturday was hot and sunny but now a fierce storm has blown up - the satellite television is out and rain is on the
way.

We have had a lot of rain lately but more sunshine and light cloud than rain. The usual pattern in my experience is for a storm to blow up and huge deluge and then it clears and sometimes within half an hour everything is dry. This month we have had English drizzle some days for several hours. Still it is warm rain.

It would take a lot more than a bit of rain to keep me away from Thailand. After all I'm not soluble.

Hi Daniel,

It is usually the quietest month., Although June is a close second.

July and August pick up with the European bank holidays and it is usually quite busy with Asian customers.

Although the weather is unpredictable at the minute, it is usually very hot, humid and rainy. The Rain helps very litttle as it usually dries up in twenty minutes and then it gets even hotter.

Some people enjoy the low season a lot more as the bars are not as crowded and they have the run of the place. Others don't like it as a lot of boys go home for the rice season and prefer to stay up there until the high season.

Traditionally, the Season gets underway in October, stealing etc tends to rise at this time of year and in house bar fall outs with the boys as money is tight, debts and motorbike payments as well as gambling debts and rents for rooms they can't afford! and not enough mugs sorry customers, to bail them out of their self inflicted problems.

They can't help low season, but they can budget and make allowances for it, I've seen many successful boys do it and many leave it up the old one "What can I do??"

Same every year!!!

The open air beer bars go quieter as a rule, as it is too warm to sit on terraces in comfort.
