View Full Version : PRIDE FESTIVAL SEXY SWIMSUIT DISPUTE

April 16th, 2007, 18:33
Wow Guys, have Pride Festival gotten their swimsuits in a twist this year?!?!?!?

For the past several years dragoncastle has been the sponsor of Pride's Sexy Swimsuit Contest. Now Telephone Pub in Silom Soi 4 says it is the Official New Sponsor. Check out their websites for full details.

We spoke to some of those involved with Pride Festival this year:
One man who wishes to remain anonymous told us: 'dragoncastle is not a suitable sponsor anymore. All those photos of semi-naked young men, the contact ads for moneyboys and the links to hardcore porno sites do not accord with the new image Pride Festival wants to send to the Thai public'. He went on: 'OK, so he sponsored in the past but heck, last year the guy did not even bother to turn up for the contest he was sponsoring'.

Another interested party told Pride News: 'dragoncastle is a personal friend of mine and a good customer. I will move heaven and earth with the committee to ensure that dragoncastle remains the sponsor'.

What will happen next? Who will get the committee's approval? Stay tuned to Pride News

With your first post, I guess now your the Offical Pride Spokes person, who ever you are?

Frankly, I'm with Homi on this, who cares. None of these contests/competitions are the slightest interest to me, just my opinion.

"We", are there two or more of you?

For a city as big as Bangkok the Pride festival is a ABSOLUTE AND TOTAL JOKE!!!

A huge waste of time and not interesting in the least. I attended my first years parade about 4 years ago and what a dissapointment. Standing there watching all of 3 or 400 people marching down Suriwong Rd.

Mexico city by contrast has a fantastic Pride Parade .goes on for 2 hours and has massive participarion

Curious how things slide off topic. I like a good gay parade occasionally but not too often. I am not clear what they are all about and I do feel that they present a rather warped side of the homosexual world to the public. There again marching men in suits would not be very interesting.

Now I have always enjoyed the Dragoncastle sexy swimsuit competition despite the heat in that suntrap swimming pool. They always seem to have some very beautiful young men who enter. I will post photos on request.

To shun Dragoncastle because of his website one could about justify but not to move to a new sponsor Telephone bar which, I gather, is noted for the numbers of money boys in attendance!

Oddly I received a newsletter from Dragoncastle which contained this:

Welcome to Dragoncastle's Newsletter for April 2007!

Dragoncastle's Sexy Swim Suit Contest 2007

Bangkok's Pride Festival Committee has said that Dragoncastle.net remains the sponsor of the popular Sexy Swim Suit Contest <http://www.dragoncastle.net/gayfestival.shtml> at this time, as no decisions have yet been made about Pride in the Park.

This follows a claim made on Telephone Pub's website that "the 2007 Sexy Swimsuit contest held yearly at Pride in the Park has a new sponsor." The news item on Telephone Pub's website continues by saying "Bangkok Pride Festival has awarded the sponsorship to Telephone Pub."

Pride Festival Committee issued this statement on April 12: "I am not sure where you read about Sexy Swim Suit Contest being awarded to Telephone, but that is not true. The sporting events are still in the planning stages, I have spoken to (website rep), to already start arranging Dragoncastle to be the sponsor, Telephone has not made any such request.

Pride Festival Committee."

Dragoncastle has asked Telephone Pub to explain the statement made on their website but has received no reply to repeated emails.

The annual sexy swim suit contest has always been the most popular event at Pride in the Park, but the new Pride committee have yet to decide if Pride in the Park will take place in 2007, or if it will be
held in a new location. The Pride Festival is scheduled for November 3-11, 2007.....

I have not managed to trace anything currently on this topic on the Pride or Telephone websites. Who can Pride News be? Is he an official representative of Bangkok Pride or did he steal their logo?

Lunchtime, dear, judging from the average age of the sponsors and colostomy-bag-carrying attendees, calling it the Prune Festival would be more appropriate.

I've always thought it amusing that "Gay Pride" holds an event in Bangkok's largest open-air beat - Lumpini Park

Is there a REASON why something lke that wouldn't be right out in the middle of everything there?

it was selected for your convenience to save you any extra walking.

it was selected for your convenience to save you any extra walking. The zimmer frame travels quite well around the park. Besides, on reviewing last year's contestants on the Dragoncastle site, I recall my decision then - out of a motley crew almost equally divided between the unshaven and the disfigured (tattoos), #12 was the only piece of eye-candy to my taste, and I think he was already taken. The 2005 contest was much more to my liking, especially the winner

Wowpow, how very politically incorrect of you! Pride Festival is GBLT (Gay, Bi-sexual, Lesbian & Transgender) these days :pukeright:

This is from the website www.pridefestival.org (http://www.pridefestival.org/?language=en) "Bangkok Pride Festival strives to engender a sense of community among the GLBT population in Thailand, and to empower everyone with a stronger sense of pride. Also, the annual pride event is held to promote diversity, awareness, and tolerance in Thai society, and to inspire citizens to live in harmony regardless of their sexual orientation."

GBLT http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i297/padlom/GBLT.jpg

So there should not only be a gay sexy swimsuit contest but also contests for the BLT's. Right?

What about a Lesbian with the Biggest Bum Contest or a Spot the Bloke Contest for the Transgenders?

By the way, are you 'empowered with a stronger sense of pride' when you are taking those snaps of the muscle men or do you just get a lazy-lob on?

April 18th, 2007, 08:42
I stand corrected.

Like you I red the aims of the BPF

"Bangkok Pride Festival strives to engender a sense of community among the GLBT population in Thailand, and to empower everyone with a stronger sense of pride. Also, the annual pride event is held to promote diversity, awareness, and tolerance in Thai society, and to inspire citizens to live in harmony regardless of their sexual orientation."

I am not quite clear how a sexy swimsuit in the wherever or a parade achieve these objectives to any degree?

Actually I think it's about a lot of us poofs having fun with a touch of commercial advertising and nothing wrong with any of that.

My that sandwich looks good! Do lesbians eat meat?

They still don't have a sponsor or they havn't decided yet. :argue:

The poster for Pride shown on this weeks weekly report is asking for sponsors for the sexy swimsuit contest
weekly report 1 May 2007 (http://www.pgreport.com/010507/010507.htm#pride)

I propose Lord Brown from BP as one of the judges

Wowpow asks if lesbians eat meat:

In the UK lesbians eat muffins!

And is it true that one man's meat is another mans poisson?
