Sawatdee Friends,

In recent weeks, I have searched for an electronic safe for my condo ...
and I found a company which I can recommend to you.

Pattaya Keys & Safes...
26/26 Moo 10, Nongprue, Banglamung, Chonburi (Pattaya)

located on Soi 16 - the soi "behind" the Thai elementary school on the corner of South Pattaya Road and Second Road.
The store is opposite the rear/back side of the school.

Telephone # Mobile:089-252-9830 or Office: 038-422-831

Services:

Locksmith
Household & Auto Keys
Unlock Safe & Locker
Safes for Sale

The owner has 15 years experience with sales and servicing of locks and safes.

He is also a member of the Pattaya City Rescue Team who are on call 24 hours day...
to respond to emergencies and accidents...has special Emergency Rescue city truck and city response phone.

He speaks very good English.

I had several keys made by him. They worked perfectly :-)
- that is more than I can say for WalMart in the USA :-(

He has a wide selection of safes to choose from and provides free delivery,
set up and installation if you want the safe bolted to the floor, wall or ???

He guarantees his safes for 6 months...if any problem he will take care.

The electronic safe I chose was 2,900 baht - has a key opening backup if needed -
and a little larger size than most found in hotel rooms...easy to use.

I was pleased with his sales and service and recommend him to you.

Can you find out if he is interested in selling servicing a safe in the USA?

Been pricing them and the cheapest digital similar to Thailand hotels is over
$100 US plus freight. Purchase one locally and its a $300 bill by the time I get it, and installation is questionable.

I'm guessing that he might be, but the charges for that many hours of travel time might kill you!

Just kidding you :clown:

TravellerJim - I often ponder on having a safe fitted in my condo. The ones I have seen have been much pricier than the 2900 baht you mention. I have dallied as I know that it should be bolted to the wall and that's beond my DIY capabilities. Did your guy fit the safe and if so how much?

I saw some safes on offer at Carrefour a couple of weeks back at 1290 baht and they looked quite robust.

Does having a safe effect one's insurance for contents?

Hi Wowpow,

The Pattaya Keys & Safes Shop has many sizes of safes on display.
The shop owner will be pleased to show you the merits of each.

The one I chose appears of good quality and the size is OK for me - with a shelf inside too.
It is electronic and operates on a battery; and has a key backup in case the battery is not replaced timely,
or you have forgotten your 4 digit combination numbers.

The shop owner will personally deliver the safe to your home or condo.
Installation is FREE and is included in the price of the safe.
The safe can be bolted to the wall or floor; and/or can be glued to a surface. The choice is yours.

Having some 'peace of mind" in knowing where my original documents - passport - air tickets -
credit cards and small amounts of cash - is important to me. Having a safe in my condo gives me that.

I realize if a crook or thief is determined to steal from you - and has plenty of time -
any safe or door can be broken into. But at least I have tried...

As to your question about lowering your personal property insurance costs -
I doubt it...especially here in Thailand.

Maybe others have more experience with this question than I do in Thailand.
