Sawatdee Friends,

My bf and I spent two nights last weekend (Saturday & Sunday) in Bangkok and we stayed at the Pinnacle Lumpinee Hotel.

We were in Bangkok to attend the Bird Concert on Sunday night held at the Muang Arena in North Bangkok.
Bird (Albert Thongchai McIntyre) is a superstar in Thai music and my bf & I have all his cd's, mp3's and dvd's.

Both my bf and I have been waiting to see him in concert and finally March 9-10-11 were 3 nights of full house - all sold out concerts.

Bird is beloved by all in Thailand - his concerts are sell outs....he sings songs in English with ease and Thai.
He is the "Liberace or Elton John" of Thailand :-)

Bird was awarded Best Male Artist Award for 2006..on March 12, 2007.

On Thursday morning March 8th - as my bf and I were on our way to see bf's family in Singburi,
I had him call by phone to Jimmy at Pinnacle to see about a reservation.
Jimmy answered the first call to him : his mobile number is 081-859-6585.

Jimmy took the info from bf and in ten minutes Jimmy called back to confirm the room reservation.
We booked two nights at the Pinnacle Lumpinee Hotel - Deluxe Room - Non-Smoking - One King Bed -
rate of 1,250 thai baht per night, which included two free buffet breakfasts each morning - served between 6:00am and 10:00am.

Here are some hotel websites for information and photos:

When we arrived at the hotel at about 2:00pm Saturday afternoon the Reception Desk had our reservations and all I produced was my Passport and Visa.
My Thai bf showed his ID card. The desk photo copied both of our ID's.

A credit card was entered as security for the hotel. At checkout Monday morning at 11:00am -
the desk had the room attendant check the mini-bar and with nothing used - no added charges and we were on our way.

The Bellman took our bags and us to our room - set the air conditioner and set our bags as we wished.

A room safe - electronic - is provided in the room at no added cost.

The morning buffet breakfast was ample and good selections of both Asian and American foods.
A Chef was stationed to cook to order eggs and omelette's.

The Waiters were quick to serve and keep your coffee cup full - as you wished.
Many fruit juices available from the buffet.

A wide variety of breads and rolls along with many fruits to choose from.

I especially liked their French toast with syrup or honey each day, and the bacon was excellent :-)

The newspapers - Bangkok Post and Thai were readily available for purchase at front desk -
or FREE from the racks in the lobby to take into the restaurant - read and return.

The room was clean, the daily maid service very good, and the air conditioning controls worked as you set them.
The tub/shower combination provided a good opportunity for bf to enjoy and "soak" in the suds.

The bathroom had complimentary toiletries to include a safety razor, comb, shower cap, soaps, bath suds, shampoos, & lotions.
I suggest you bring along your own favorite soaps as the bars provided are very small. There is free liquid soap and shampoo in the bath tub dispenser.
Bathrobes (two) are provided to use during your stay.

Complimentary coffee and teas with sugar and creamers free for your use.

The mini-bar same-same as many other hotels - we do not use.

We enjoyed a late lunch Saturday afternoon at the Chinese Restaurant located just outside the entrance to the hotel...
between the main street and entrance to hotel. Very good food and fair prices for Chinese food.

A new internet shop - 20 baht for 30 minutes - is open next to the Chinese Restaurant. Good speed and service.
They have sign saying "laundry" service available - I do not know the price - but if the internet shop is any indicator -
it may be good to ask them if you are in need of laundry services.

The MRT Subway station - Lumpinee Park - is about 10 minute short walk from the hotel.

Vincent's Hotel and Restaurant is across the street - about 1/2 block past the entrance to the Pinnacle Hotel.
We did not eat there, but reports from those who have say it is good Thai food and reasonably priced.

Hotel Malaysia is further past Vincent's Hotel - a fact and location I was not aware of until a taxi we were riding in passed the Malaysia Hotel as were returning to the Pinnacle Lumpinee Hotel.

I met with Jimmy on Sunday morning - about 11:00am to pay him for our room.
He was most cordial and welcoming.

I can say I will be pleased to recommend Jimmy and the Pinnacle Hotel Lumpinee to all.

Jimmy-s e-mail address is jimmyfirst@hotmail.com.

The BEST way to contact Jimmy is by phone at Mobile # 081-859-6585.
Best time to call him is between 10:00am and 2:00pm.

We visited Dick's Cafe Saturday night and I enjoyed a very good club sandwich with fries ( I think 95 baht) - with drinks.

For music and show time, we enjoyed the show at DJ Station - show time is 11:30pm and the show is over in 25 minutes!
Entry cover is 200 baht with one drink of choice served. Show is OK but its length - shortness of show was a surprise to me.

But seeing as DJ Station is packed wall to wall with customers - I can understand why the show is only 25 minutes.
The crowd comes to see and be seen and chat and dance the night away :-)...
I think they close at about 2:00am....depends on the state of Police action.

And, to buy a second drink is difficult as the place is so packed tight with customers...
after the show maybe you can wiggle your way to the bar to get a drink.

ID's are closely checked (age 20 + required)...at the door and security scanners at entrance to the soi leading to DJ Station.

The place fills up fast...suggest you get there at about 10:45pm or so to get your spot to see the show.
The crowd is crowded!..do no expect to move about very much once the place is full - all 3 levels.

Sorry - we did not visit the other kinds of "shows" ...we are not much into them anymore...
my bf and I - we enjoy our time together and opportunity to see music and cabaret shows.

A good weekend in Bangkok and Thanks to Jimmy for your assistance.
I have called upon Jimmy many times in past and he has always come through for me.

He (Bird) most assuredly has a great voice. One of my favorite concerts on cd is the concert with Bird and Sek Loso which was, I think, in 2004. Wish I would have been at that concert. Some great music (if you're into Thai pop/rock).

And much like Liberace claims he is not gay. My BF says no one buys that, he's gay.

Are there any "out" Thai pop music stars?

Lucky you TJ!

is it true that he once was Mos bf? I have CD`s from both of them.

travelerjim, the 200 baht entry fee to DJ on Friday and Saturday nights includes two drinks. You should recive two coupons. On other nights, entry is 100baht and includes only one drink.

If you enter at 10:45 you will be the only ones in the place. Everyone knows that show time is 11:30 and most enter from the other Soi 2 bars at 11:25!

Jimmy is a waste of time. He is arrogant, disorganized, and often doesn't return calls or emails. He shows no consistency and chats endlessly with whomever comes to his room regardless of the backup of people waiting to pay.

But he did call some of the people he had in the hotel at 7:45 this morning trying to convince us to move out early so another client of his can move in.

That is 7:45 on a Sunday morning when, naturally, we were asleep after a long night of partying.

I did not fall asleep again; Jimmy should be shot, especially when we said to him 3 days ago when we checked in that we would be out of the hotel at noon to catch a 3:00 flight to Chiang Mai

As to the hotel; the Pinnacle Lumpini is tired, and the rooms need a makeover desperately. This is a budget hotel and has no aspirations of anything else

If you have to stay in the hotel, scrap Jimmy, and use Asiarooms.com for a better experience.

I'm getting confused here. You're not seriously telling me that that guy (Bird Thongchai McIntyre) the singer above is 48 years old! (DOB 8 December 1958 according to his website).

I want to know the name of his plastic surgeon, and I want to know it now!

I agree: Jimmy's savings are not worth the price of having to deal with him.
