Are there any "shops" / places in Pattaya, or is it better in BKK and if so, where; to go to get the robes etcetera for a friend wishing to enter the monkhood, or is this organised through the temple he would be entering.

Robe and alms-bowl will be provided by family. Robe may vary in colours, therefore it is not a good idea to buy him some before you know which temple will accept him. Near the temple there are shops specialised in anything a monk needs. Robe and bowl are very cheap.

Entering monk hood is a very costly event. A massive and expensive party before is very common. The size reflects he social status as well. ...

Friends usually help the family to shoulder this financial burden. I guess you understand what I mean. Maybe this auspicious occasion is a good reason to proof the flexibility of your flexible friend ...
