View Full Version : Two Russian women shot dead on Jomtien beach

" Two Russian women killed at Jomthien beach

PATTAYA: -- Two Russian women, both tourists, have been shot dead in the Eastern seaboard resort of Jomthien, adjacent to Pattaya, about 110 kilometers (70 miles) southeast of Bangkok, police said.

Tatiana Tsimfer, 30 and Liubov Svirkova, 25 were killed when an unidentified gunman fired four shots from a 9 mm pistol, police said. Their bodies were found lying on the beach while their personal effects were left untouched.

Witnesses reportedly told police that they saw the victims drinking alcohol and swimming earlier.

Initially, police investigators believed that the Russian tourists probably quarreled severely with a beach chair concessionnaire which led to the later violence. Police are searching for the operator to investigate.

This was the fifth or sixth item on the beloved Pattaya City News on TV today. It followed items about winning bikes for clearing most rubbish off the beach and the Banglabesh community football game to celebrate some language or other (atended by less than 10 people by the look of it.)

Then followed the usual video of the bodies with police walking all over the scene on the beach together with news reporters. The public were on the pavement less than 10 feet away. As for preserving the scene for the forensic investiagators, well...........

When 2 UK tourists were murdered in Phuket a year or so ago there was all hell to pay and the Prime Minister himself got involved.

So, keep safe, in Safe Pattaya!!!

I can not believe your Mama named you, lunchtime, Miss O'Booze!
Surely; it was, out to lunch! Or, meat-head.

You may have all the, "odd Ivans" for yourself, deary. There are enough in the city I call home to last me several thousand lifetimes, were this "old battle-ax" so inclined--Not even the lure of Grey Goose!

And don't knock those handbags filled with worthless trash. Left in strategic spots, they are invariably returned by lovely young men intrigued by the generosity (All those IOU's.) of the owner of the purse. In other words; hoping for a sweet reward: a ride in my convertible. (AKA: sofa-bed.) and an IOU of their very own.
I would tell you where, on South Road, you may find an attractive deal on ugly, but noticeable, reticules, if you buy in quantity... It seems like just last month I purchased a gross. As a matter of fact, I think it was ... but that would be giving away more trade secrets--Beside which, you have hurt my feelings. Deeply. So go find your own cheap pocketbooks, you sotted, sodding old souse!

Well, if it were clearing old dikes off the beach, or old bitches off the dikes...you'd be gone!...in any case!

I once met Pearl and she said she went to the beach with you--but she does seem to be rather drunk most of the time so who knows?

Rather drunk? Rather?
Yes, she was so drunk once she insisted Porfirio said she could see his polo pony. I hadn't the heart to tell her he said, "BE, his polo pony," especially since it was the, pony, part in which she was interested....Or was it the pony's part?... Pony like part? All of the afore mentioned.
Always a sportin' girl was our Pearl. There was the time she was invited to join a cricket club--But they just wanted club her with a wicket!
Once, several boys invited her out for night golfing. Because she was an easy hole-in-one? No, it turned out to be miniature golf: they made her lie under her Zimmer frame, spread her legs--And used her for the windmill!...But, after irretrievably losing a bucket of balls, they buried her in the sand trap. A basset hound thought she was a bone and dug her up. He got a good whiff, he covered her up again--Which is what usually happens at the beach...when the kiddies have finished using her, and Sani, as Orca water-slides. Such sweet old ladies! Just be careful, when they roll over to tan their backsides, the shock waves may set off another tsunami any day now! Where is Jenny Craig when you really need her? I heard she has a warrant out for their arrest!

This story has gotten international coverage including BBC and CNN and I also saw it on a Singapore news channel.
Today, a Thai guy showed me a photocopied sheet of paper with four Russian men's passports inside cover page
with photos, full name etc.

He was given this by the police and told that there was a big reward for any help in finding these four Russian men and
that they were the prime suspects in the murder. This guy has no reason to lie and showed me the photocopy, so it appears
this story will continue to unfold. Pattaya/Jomtien is loaded with Russians (some from the former Soviet Republics like Ukraine)
and unfortunately many are first time tourists and think the way to have fun is to drink vodka all day and behave boorishly..
No problem until you share a baht bus with some or they invade your local boy bar. The Russian ladies who ply their trade around
the VC Hotel in Pattaya, seem to be getting bolder and some seem to have Asian pimps. Since they stand out with their white skin
and blond hair, the police must be cooperating or they could not work blatantly on a main road in full view. It is amazing that the
English speaking news channels never cover this on only want to show dead bodies and motorcycle accidents and of course,
restaurant promotions and endless adverts.. I guess they are afraid of stepping on the wrong stilettos... :cat:

They're in Bangkok too. Got a few living in the building. For some reason they scare the bejesus out of me. Some dress and look like hit men from a B-movie in the 50's.

A gaggle of them were in Babylon a few night ago. They were staying together and making a lot of noise at the pool. Latter 4 of them went in the Jacuzzi and chuck-wow'ed each other. Another one was in the sauna small dry sauna with a lit cigarette.

for the Rusian population this was the only way of having fun for decades apart from a bit of rumpy pumpy so it's understandable that the tradition has carried on.

As for them being here..and everywhere..blame that on the West and charmers like the CIA who chortled away as they assisted in the collapse of the USSR via Afghanistan etc...all it's done is unleash the Russian Mafia upon the world who now have a foothold in just about every country.

Further developments in the Russian Double Murder case. Wednesday
We continue to closely follow the recent murder of two Russian Tourists on Jomtien Beach over the weekend and our journalists are stationed at a Command Center which has been set up at the Anantaya Resort in Soi 18, off Jomtien Beach, just meters away from the scene of the crime. This major murder investigation now includes Police Officers from various Police Divisions, local Government Officials, Tourism Authority of Thailand Officials and Russian Embassy personnel are also assisting in the investigation. We will now attempt to clarify the current position with regards to this investigation and give you the facts. We will also attempt to clarify inconsistent reporting of the case in the international media.
We begin with the two victims, Miss Tatiana Tsimfer aged 30 and Miss Liubov Svirkova aged 25. Police Lieutenant General Asawin, the Region 2 Commander of Police who is in charge of the investigation has received considerable assistance from the Russian Embassy in Bangkok who has assigned Mr. Vladimia Viprovin, the Russian Consul in Pattaya as their representative at the Command Center. He has provided Police with a full profile of each victim as the search for possible motives for the killings continues. Mr. Viprovin has confirmed that the pair came from affluent families in Russia and both were in employment. Any suggestions that they were involved in prostitution here in Thailand have been discounted. Furthermore he confirmed that they entered Thailand on a Charter Flight which flew into Utapao Airport on 16th February. Flight number SBI 849 consisted of 201 passengers and 12 cabin crew. Police are now tracking down each passenger and cabin crew and they will be questioned individually. Police are also searching for an unlicensed Tour Guide who the pair was believed to have employed to take them to various local Tourist attractions during their stay here in Pattaya. This man disappeared after the shooting and has not been seen by other members of the Russian tour group that accompanied the victims.
Further inspections of the CCTV pictures have taken place as Police try and build a profile of the suspected shooter. They have brought in Khun Somart, a self-proclaimed motorbike expert who was asked to identify the model and color of the motorbike used by the suspect. After intense examination of the footage he cannot be certain but believes the bike used was a red Honda Wave, but Khun Somart is now waiting for a colleague to come and verify his findings. On Tuesday afternoon at Pattaya City Hall, Police Colonel Sutin and Khun Ronagit, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya, called a meeting of every motorbike taxi driver in the Pattaya area as he begins a city-wide inspection of motorbikes. They also urged motorbike taxi drivers to assist in the investigation any way they can. The Colonel is aware that
Russian single women who come to Pattaya will often use motorbike taxis. They would like the drivers to question their customers whenever they can as they may have either known the victims or might be able to offer clues as to the identity of the shooter.
Despite the efforts of the authorities so far, the identity of the shooter is still not known but Police believe he was a tall man, around 180cms in height and of Thai origin, however they have not discounted the theory that the man may be of foreign origin.
As we compiled this report and despite one of the most intense murder investigations ever seen here in Pattaya, the fact remains that no arrests have been made in this case. Pressure from senior Police and government officials is intense as they look to close this case as quickly as possible to prevent further damage to the already fragile Tourism Industry here in Thailand. Dr. Suwit, the Minister for Sports and Tourism has called on the Tourist Police to arrest the shooter, and Police Major General Panya, the National Commander of Tourist Police is now in Pattaya and has joined the investigation. It has been reported in the National Press that Police General Seripisut, the Acting National Police Chief, believes that foreign gangs may be involved in this double-murder and unless the killer is caught and foreign gang activity in Pattaya stops, Pattaya Police Officers will be disciplined and possibly reassigned. Khun Chaiwat from the Tourism Authority of Thailand has told the investigating team that unless this case is brought to a swift conclusion, Tourism will be affected.
So now we wait, but for now, the harsh reality of this case is that the shooter remains at large. We have journalists stationed 24 hours a day at the Command Center and we will bring you any further news as soon as we receive it.

This sight is blocked in the middle east by the way,no joking, but I did try. I caught a glimpse of the victims in the Oman rag and then again in the Kharooj times in Dubai. Too horrible. It must have been mercifully quick as they didn't even have time to get out of their deck chairs by the look of things.
The Russian Mafia is all over the place, I was even solicited in the aeroplane by a likely number with a bulging zip lock bag of diamonds and a thick accent. I was very tempted as the uncut stones are very attractive, then I remembered the picture of the two ladies in their deck chairs, besides I already purchased some discreet (sic) bling, three solid gold antique Salalah beads at the souk in Muttrah on my way through from Yemen.

Is there such a thing as a Russian sex tourist? Am I wrong in my understanding that Russia has plenty of inexpensive prostitutes of both sexes? Why travel abroad for sex?

March 2nd, 2007, 03:27
Police last night arrested a man who they said was the gunman that shot dead two Russian women on a beach near Pattaya last Saturday.

Anuchit Lamlert, an unemployed man with a long criminal record, allegedly confessed to shooting dead Tatiana Tsimfer, 30, and Liubov Svirkova, 25, while they sat drinking in deckchairs on Jomtien Beach.

But, chief investigator Pol Lt General Assawin Khwanmueng, said he did not believe the victims were killed solely for their valuables - as reportedly claimed.

A police source said investigators were also looking into a potential lead that a Thai women hired Anuchit to kill both women because one of them had a fling with her Russian husband, who owns a tourism business in Pattaya, shortly after they visited his office.

"The Thai wife was worried that her husband might get attracted to the Russian woman and later leave her for the younger girl, so she [may have] decided to whack her potential rival," the source said.

Police are still looking for the murder weapon, a Chinese-made Norinco pistol, which Anuchit said he threw into a shrub-covered plot after shooting both victims.

Civil defence volunteers were mobilised to look for the handgun at press time last night, armed with high-powered spotlights.

Police apprehended Anuchit in a rented room in Sri Racha district, and later found his motorcycle - a red Honda Wave - the same model seen in the blurry video footage from security cameras near the murder site, at a different location in Bang Lamung district.

Police records show that Anuchit had frequently snatched gold necklaces and valuables from foreign tourists in the Pattaya area.

Earlier yesterday, a Pattaya mother had taken her son to see police to prove his innocence. She said he only looked similar to the man in a police mugshot branded as the suspected gunman that killed both victims. Thasorn Sawangchuen said her son Krissana Duangphibool had nothing to do with the murder.

As for the russian men - i`ve never seen so many - and god they all seem to be young & gorgeous. Not sure if gay or not as they tend to sit in bunches and didnt have Thai guys in tow. Wish i was 21 again!

Hmm it was a surprise I must admit, but not much of a set back. No more American film for me, oil for blood that sort of thing, though isn't it quaint how Hollywood's drives hybrid "automobiles" these days and pauses for thought about where their diamonds come from? All very radical. Iran is indeed a paradise, I highly recommend, especially for middle America on budget. I will be putting up some enticing holiday snaps by the sea. One item of clothing not needed (given the heat that is, even in winter) is orange jump suits. Don't say I didn't warn, it can get "awful" close out there, even in the middle of a wide expanse of desert.

Pattaya tourist killing gun found

Police yesterday found the murder weapon used in killing two Russian women in Pattaya on February 24. The 9mm Chinese-made Norinco pistol was found in a pond pinpointed by a witness, who is a close friend of murder suspect Anuchit Lamlert and volunteered information to police about the weapon yesterday after Anuchit was arrested on Thursday night. The unidentified witness bought the handgun for Bt900 from Anuchit after it was used to kill Tatiana Tsimfer, 30, and Liubov Svirkova, 25, while they sat drinking in deckchairs on Jomtien Beach. He later threw it away in the pond near his home in Chon Buri's Sri Racha district after Anuchit failed to show up to buy it back as he had promised. The witness now faces a charge of possessing a firearm without permission but will have the offence dropped in return for his testimony in court about Anuchit selling the handgun to him, police said.

Police quoted Anuchit as saying that he had merely wanted to rob the victims but had shot them dead after they yelled and screamed. He fled without taking anything. According to police, Anuchit has committed numerous crimes, mainly robbery and mugging of foreign tourists in Pattaya. He was temporarily released after allegedly shooting a South Korean tourist in January.

Both Anuchit and the witness are in police custody separately, and acting police chief Seripisut Temiyavej will today arrive in Pattaya to question Anuchit.

According to news reports, the police are not very convinced of Khun Anuchit's insistence of a robbery motive.

Maybe because he first lied to them and first told them he threw the gun into the bushes in front of Baan Suan Lalana condos on Soi Chaiyapruek and they spent a lot of effort combing through the shrubbery at night under bright spotlights?

Speculation is rampant that one of the Russian girls had a fling with the Russian owner of a Pattaya tour company. His Thai wife is alleged to have hired a gun man to take her out of the picture. Time will tell.

There is a series of ten surveillance camera pics on ThaiVisa.com that show his arrival, shooting and departure, which supposedly took less than ten seconds. In the 7th pic, it shows him pausing (gun down) to evaluate his victims then he raised the gun again (and presumably fired again). If he were REALLY into robbery, don't you think he would have at least snatched the mobile phone on the table at that point? (The table was between him and the victims.)

Just check how YOU would feel, homintern, if your best friend was shot deadI wasn't aware that you were best friends with these two women. I'm sorry for your loss. However jokes in what many consider extremely poor taste are common, especially around disasters. I can remember hearing my first Lady Diana death joke well with 24 hours of the accident, and the Challenger disaster jokes began almost straight away. I would imagine that if my best friend died others would try to restrain themselves from making unkind remarks in my presence, but if I were reading the newspapers or other public media such as this Forum it's very much AYOR

Will you be going to the funerals? Will they be in Pattaya or Russia?

Have you seen The Queen, by the way? I thought Princess Margaret's comment about the death of Diana (only a few hours later, don't forget) was most amusing - "Diana's more trouble to us in death than in life" and the Queen's reaction was not at all censorious - "Don't let the boys hear that". I'm afraid that's life and that's how grown-ups behave, however the sentimental people among us may feel

When the colonel leaps to your defense, you know you are in trouble...

Currently, the Russian and Russian speakers are all over Pattaya and unfortunately, they
are novices at travel and many are crude and drunk day and nite. Of course, this is a gross
generalization and of course, their money is as good as anyones and much needed by the
hotels, bars etc.

My point was that this double murder was a terrible tragedy but I tired to find the brite spot in the ugly situation and
if my post was referring to the Arabs cancelling reservations, I wonder if anyone would have found that
objectionable.
Wait until you run into some drunken group of Russian speakers and watch them ruin any place they frequent
with their country bumpkin behavior and physical abuse of the Thai workers. One experience with them in a
boy bar will be enough for most to appreciate any decline in the numbers coming to Pattaya/Jomtien.

The Second Noble Truth, for example, says that one of the causes of suffering is that we are (as the modern generation would put it) "in denial". You are so obsessed with your former life below stairs at Kensington Palace ( http://www.sawatdee-gay-thailand.com/fo ... .php?e=281 (http://www.sawatdee-gay-thailand.com/forum/weblog_entry.php?e=281) ) that you can't see the general for the particular (or, as that old cliche has it, the wood for the trees). Whether or not you think the particular example adequate or otherwise does not detract from the truth that the world is divided between those who think, and see life as a comedy, and those who feel and see it as a tragedy. Brenda and I (and countless others) are in the former category

I admire the Four Nobel Truths ,,,,, but I do have trouble with the first one,,, Life is Dukkah... (read suffering) I sort of prefer Antie Mame's approach to life --- quote "Life is banquet and most sons of bitches are starving to death." While I like both of these ideas I sort of make up my own version. Life is a challenge but the trick is not to stumble and fall in the process of enjoying it.----- Wow, more self exposure in this post than I am used to making.... Thanks Pearl for that last pint of Gin.

From Steve Hagen's Buddhism plain and simple
The first of the four truths the Buddha described is called duhkha (doo-ka). Duhkha is not easily translated into English. It is often translated as тАЬsufferingтАЭ. But this only gets at part of what the word means, because pleasure is also a form of duhkha. In Sanskrit, duhkha stands in opposition to another word, sukha, which means тАЬsatisfactionтАЭ. Some people thus translate duhkha as тАЬdissatisfactionтАЭ

Duhkha comes from a Sanskrit word that refers to a wheel out of kilter. If we think of this wheel as one that performs some important function, such as a potterтАЩs wheel, then the out-of-true wheel creates constant hardship for us every time we try to make a clay vessel. In BuddhaтАЩs time the accompanying image may have been of a cart with an out-of-true wheel being pulled along. You can imagine how uncomfortable it must feel to ride in such a vehicle. The repeated wobble, rise, and drop starts out as annoying, then becomes steadily more distracting and disturbing. Maybe thereтАЩs a little pleasure in it for the rider at first тАУ a little bounce, perhaps тАУ but after a while it becomes more and more vexing

The first truth likens human life to this out-of-kilter wheel. Something basic and important isnтАЩt right. It bothers us, makes us unhappy, time after time. Of course there are moments of pleasure. But no matter how hard we try to cultivate pleasure and keep it coming our way, eventually the pleasure recedes and the disturbance and vexation return

some rather sad stastitics I heard today since the fall of the USSR..

The population of Russia is declining by one million a year
men are smoking and drinking themselves to death..average life expectancy age for men is now 58..20 years below the rest of the Western world.
suicide, cancer , depression are up 33%..on and on it goes. Give 'em a break when they try and make a buck some where else like Thailand.

" ... men are smoking and drinking themselves to death.... suicide, cancer , depression are up 33%..on and on it goes. ...."
All that poor health and internalized angst was rampant during the Czarist times and even greater when the Bolsheviks imposed their socialist puritanisms on the Proletariat . . . so nothing new there.

The suicide, smoking and drinking, cancer and depression should for sure be well-known to Pattaya denizens, what with their friends swan-diving off high balconies as a regular occcurence. Something to gossip about.

Cheers ...

A sure-fire way of telling the difference between Russian men and women is, apparently, that the women plait the hair in their armpits. (Now the bad taste brigade can really let rip)

"All that poor health and internalized angst was rampant during the Czarist times"

but there was great hope as the brilliant Gorbachev tried to transform the country from a communist state into a social democracy only to be thwated by a vodka soaked Boris Yeltsin :clown: :clown:

That must be the Boris Yeltsin who heroically and at great personal risk climbed up on a tank during the fighting in Moscow to rally the people during the anti-Gorbachev hardliners' attempted coup in the early 1990s?

As such - and for helping to defeat the forces that would have restored the old Soviet Union and its ways - he deserved and still deserves the world's applause.

Someone who still believes individual actions change the world and have no context. How lovely

and no doubt he was tanked at the time

but lets face it ...he gave the joint away to every 2 bit shiny con man who came along afterwards..so in fact Gorby was actually right that time and the old Commies were trying to re-claim the place before the shiny crown moved. As all those old ladies found as they were frog marched out of there Moscow apartments so the mafiosa types could sell them up.

As self imposed penance for mis-handling the whole affair Gorbachev now only accepts a state pension, his state apartment, his previously owned dacha and donates evey penny he receives (millions) from the speakers circuit to Russsian children's charities in Raisa's names. He also accepts state provided body guards and travel..nothing else. Some people still have morals..even old commies.

The last time Pearl and Edith went to the beach, Greenpeace arrived and tried to re-float them, that's after a Japanese family tried to harpoon them,,,

Ok Pearl is at the bottom of the Wellington harbour stilettos covered in slime, jaw dislocated by a few hundred meters but what of poor Eddy any word? Was she really trying to catch a canary that flew past her balcony too fast?

So many missing in action Its all quite a worry. If only they left their bleepers on.

Cedric,
This is the second time in as many days, that you have replied to a topic that is years old - what is the matter with you?

Possibly we could afford to have just one more go missing.

Is it really? My apologies it looked so interesting, two Russians shot and all that. Things a bit quite are they?

Who done it anyway?

You got to fork over some bucks for "Golden Membership" or have you given all your philanthropic funds over to that desperate farang on Craig's list?

Want to change your Title: Control Panel>>User Control Panel>>Profile>>edit profile>>add: Custom Title.

I would suggest: Odd Ball Poster; Master Odd Ball; or Just Nuts. The "fruitcake of all fruitcakes" should be respectfully retired but you can be "Master Fruitcake"

Fruitcake is taken it seems and it wont accept Diamond member either, so that's that then just have to stick with my air mles card bling.

Who killed the Russians?

I wonder that there hasn't been a Miss Marple (Or Tamsuck Probes) of Pattaya series of books yet, they would sell like rock cakes, the goings on in that small town - you hardly need an imagination?
