King Naresuan II is a master piece...

Saw the second part of this great movie yesterday with bf.

It is a "must see"...

Be sure you see the version which has "english subtitles" ...
not all showing have this...just ask the theatre.

King Naresuan II is a master piece

You may think Jeerawat Na Thalang is a patriotic for adoring King Naresuan Part II movie. But she says that this is one of the best Thai films she has ever seen.

I agree this is an excellent movie. Part 1 and 2 and looking forward to Part 3. Hopefully, this will be released internationally. It is such a great story. I think masterpiece is a bit much, but it is very good indeed.

"The King who dared to change the destiny of a Nation". Hang on a minute. Isn't that the line the royal family trot out as being what Bhumiphol's life is about? Yes; this is simply royalist propaganda, intended to bolster the political status quo in Thailand and ensure the masses remain quiescent - http://www.kingnaresuanmovie.com/

I have seen part one and two. I liked part one better but got a little lost in all the history narrative. Thai PC history deals in absolutes of good and evil with no critical analysis and this film touts the PC line.

Part 2 was more special effects and killing than story.

Bottom line, for me it was not a total waste of time but far from what I would even call a good movie.

I have to agree with Homi but I don't think his post will be around long.

Some of the muti-plex movie houses in Bangkok have all 6 to 12 rooms devoted to this movie only. One starting every 30 min.

Not yet...NO DVD's..

I really believe there will be NO DVD's available until AFTER the release of
the Final Part 3 which is scheduled later this year -
in honor of the current King's 80th Birthday December 5, 2007.

I will keep watching for any DVD's and report back if seen.

I want a set for my friends back in USA.

...does it have Elephants?
Any movie with Elephants or Zepplins gets and automatic extra star from me.

I watch The Legend of Suriothai over and over just to see the battle scenes with the Elephants.

It got a good review in the Bankok Post also (but they didn't say if it had Elephants).

Some elephants but not elephant fighting. Different war era.
