Sawatdee Photo Album awards .....

Not sure how many of the Board's members have taken the time to look through all the personal photo albums available on the Board, but it's a rainy day journey well rewarded. These albums are often a neglected part of this Board . . . and surely deserve not to be.

My personal favourites (and winners of the first & second prizes) are those of Bao-Bao and Surfcrest.

For myself Bao-Bao's album wins out by the small margin of half a sliced durian because his photos emphasise the small moments, smiles, gestures, and whimsy of Thai life (especially the Big City life), which touch me more personally.

Surfcrest's photos range further afield to greater landscapes, serene temples, wide rivers, and the death houses of Cambodia.

Love them both ... as you will I'm certain.

I certainly second the nod to Surfcrest's photos. He has some amazing shots from side trips I still have on my extensive wish list.

I haven't posted the rest of my images from the last trip; maybe I'll carve out a chunk of time soon to do so.

Some greater prominence of the personal galleries would no doubt help it's popularity. To reach it youy have to click on "Album" om the selection at the top of the page and then click on "User's Personal Galleries" third on the left. Only 5 Users have posted more than 25 photos to date.

I am rather curious why people would choose to use this facility rather than some of the other free host sites for photos such as photobucket?

Probably because it's easier to share with the Board members. I have a PhotoBucket account as well, but it's private now and it means I have to send passwords to friends. Anyway, most folks use PhotoBucket (et al) as an image hoster, rather than as an album.
The photo albums feature on the board is kind of a community event.

The easiest way to get to a member's photo album is to click on their link to it in their Profile.

I agree about the "prominence" though (or lack of it). Perhaps ElephantSpike might consider putting a link to the Photo Album List up at the top of each page with the rest of the important Board links??

For those interested, it looks like ElephantSpike has taken the suggestion and placed a link to the Members' Photo Albums in the list of of links at the top of every page: the link is called "USER PHOTO INDEX". A good improvement to the Board, and as Wowpow pointed out above, this link was difficult to find.
