View Full Version : Another Jomtien Restaurant - Simon's Fish and Chips

Simon comes from Grimsby a famed UK fishing port of old. He serves Icelandic Cod from sustainable waters and makes his British Chips from Dutch potatoes.
Small Icelandic Cod in batter with chips and mushy or garden peas 230 baht service up to you. Local fish 170 baht. Also on the menu are Simon's Pies and Burgers. Huge mugs of tea plus beers and wine available.

The cod was superb and the batter crisp and dry, the chips good and peas fine. Nicely presented on a fish plate with lime wedge and mayonnaise.

That's the good news. The bad news is that he already has a following and on Saturday night at 8.30 not a vacant chair in the plaice (sic) A couple of stiffeners at Dick's Cafe and a chat and tables came vacant.

The place is a shophouse, sadly not airconditioned but bright and clean. Service is charming and quick. It's on Tapphaya Road. If you were coming from the beach it is clearly signed, on the left about two thirds the way to the corner by Pattaya Properties/ Hanuman statue.

I was rather put off by the bright white and blue decor and passed this place up many times. Last visit to Pattaya, I dropped in for a bite and found it quite good and went back a second time.
