This was meant to be sent from Hua Hin but a last minute glitch at the Internet Cafe means I'm typing this at the new airport. So it's the very last moments of my Christmas and New Year visit. I've been with my Thai boyfriend who, for new readers, is HIV+ and has been through a very tough couple of years.
So it's good to report that he looks great and although his stamina is still a bit lacking he has been very well during the time I've spent with him. He still takes a huge number of pills but has had fewer side effects recently. His weight is up and so, at last, is his CD4 count.
It was really good to see him swimming like a fish in the hotel pool although he refused to swim in the sea with me as he is frightened of jelly fish (last year there were hundreds of them but this year I've haven't seen one).
We had a good New Year's Eve Party and were unaware of the trouble in Bangkok until afterwards.
My boy friend's doctors are monitoring his condition carefully and I have no complaints about his treatment. I had hoped to find out more about his cataracts but he doessn't see the specialist until this Thursday so I hope to get news from him after that.
His college course is going well and his new rented room in Ratchaburi is bigger than I expected. He seems happy to live alone away from an area where people knew his HIV status.
So a really great trip and such a relief that my boyfriend seems to be so much better than previously and I can feel optimistic about his future again.
That's it as this Internet is on a time limit and expensive as well in this enormous new airport. I'll be home again in 15 hours...
