"Monty"]That is good enough for me to to do it on a weekly basis.

Not bad for a retired "poof", you want to watch that dickie ticker?

wx40afp....Not bad for a retired "poof".Oh CEDRIC,are you a young and up cumming poof? 40 YEARS FROM NOW,?
What are you,25yo? Mate 65 is too old to retire !! Better to be the same as SMILES and retire at 40 yo,they say life begins at 40! But if your starting your first proper job, whatever that means? then stick to it !

No I am already up and certainly already coming. I thought Smiles was in his mid to late seventies, must be all that new-world vigour. A proper job is when one stops freeloading off ones ancestors, and starts wearing a tie and socks and shoes, the rest is up you.

I can't waite to retire already.

Work is supposed to be more rewarding than retirement, but honestly with all the fun under the sun in Pattaya I am beginning to doubt this work ethic thing. It all sounds very Marxist. I can't even get fresh mint sauce here never mind a leg of lamb, it's all Mongolian yak I think.

Cedric ,, that is because you have never been to Monty's
WE MAKE OUR OWN.
Fresh mint sauce Or mint jelly and would NEVER serve Lamb With OUT.

November 8th, 2006, 08:37
Stop it, I will have to change my panties again. Top-drawer, can we do a return roast lamb dinner, HK-BK-Pattaya 2 nights staying at the ever and increasingly fabulous Monty's, back in time for congee and the South-China morning post Monday?

I see there are in fact a few that do commute already, yes every weekend. It might have to be Golf-roastlamb-return? Though I personaly will miss the golf and tuck into a pre-helping of Lamb instead.

"I hope they are still serving roast lamb dinners at Monty's amd cheese burgers at Niddy's. "

I don't think you could kill Monty or American Teacher with a stick. They sound like true survivors-your cheeseburger and Monty's Aussie steak will still be available when you retire.

November 9th, 2006, 15:57
I might not wait that long, I think it's high time I went back to Pattaya, to stay a bit longer this time than it takes to have a slash.

November 9th, 2006, 18:38
but from friends I trust I have heard that Monty has the most superb meat and his source is a closely guarded secret. In fact they tell me it's better than the recently opened ritzy steak house .

Is the ritzy steak house you refer to the Manhattan by chance? If it is, then you have never eaten their steaks or you are just another one of NiddyтАЩs or MontyтАЩs sheep/hydras.

Go back to sleep until you can speak the truth.

Closely guarded secret??? Both meat wholesalers in North Pattaya are hardly a secret. Most all your run-of-the-mill-cafes purchase from them.

I do remember Big Ben pies , not as good as Four & Twenty, I do not not buy any meat from North Pattaya wholesalers
You have never had a steak or lamb from Monty's. Or brought any for me, from Aussie or N.Z.
But many Do. Plus Tea bags And Vegemite. which I must thank them for the trouble they take.
It is not what you think you know , that counts. but who you do know, that counts.
Come and give us a try, You will not be Sorry.

you didn't read my post correctly .

I said friends who I trust have told me that Monty serves excellent meat-and for that matter strangers have said likewise.

Nor did I say I had been to Manhattan as I am a vegan .

However I have also been told of problems at Manhattan by the same friends including the annoying fact they don't take credit cards and that there is no notice anywhere of that fact--which in Pattaya could well land a customer in awful trouble with the police--and of people being served the wrong cuts when they have ordered another. Hardly great recommendations for a place that calls itself a specialised meat merchant.

At least with Monty-you get what he says you will and that is good service, cheap prices and good food !

Thaiwonon

I guess I misread your post. So sorry.

What you are saying apparently is that your friends have told you that Montee steaks are better than the ManhattanтАЩs steaks. That is quite a claim to make.

Although you have never eaten a steak at either establishment, you are just giving them a little free advertising?

Thanks for your input.

I prefer to read about ACTUAL accounts of the service and food of all these wonderful places we have to choose from here in Thailand.

Montee, I did eat at your B & B about 3 months ago and the steak I had was good. But your friend тАЬThaiwonon" has never eaten steak at your place or the Manhattan he claims, yet is suggesting that it is better than Manhattans. Oh well. To each his own.

Kind of reminds me of that other guy who promotes his burgers as the best in Pattaya.

For me, the constant hype and outrageous claims have a strange way of putting me off to a place.

I will try and be more open-minded in the future.

Oh, and I never said that you purchase your meats from the north Pattaya wholesalers. What I did say is that most "run-of-the-mill-cafes" do buy from them. I'm sure you don't consider your place "run-of-the-mill" do you?

November 10th, 2006, 12:54
haven't eaten at either establishment so I can only go on advice from friends. One of those is a well known Pattaya gastranome Simon Napier Bell (www.simonnapierbell.com (http://www.simonnapierbell.com)) who lists his 40 top restaurants of the world on his website. He doesn't include Monty's Enchanted Hut but tells me it's a favourite of his for cheap and cheerful meals !

Maybe you know of a good vegetarian restaurant ?
There was one opened by a American in Jomtien which only lasted one night -a real shame as I had been to his condo to eat and he is a sensational vegetarian chef.

TW

I remember the vegetarian caf├й that opened for one night near Papa Davids caf├й in Jomtiem. I was not able to check it out as it closed soon after. Anyone know what happened with that venue? Where is Let Me Bore You when you need him?

The only 2 veggie cafes that I have ever eaten at in my life is Dux le Lux http://www.thedux.co.nz/ and one in Bangkok called Tamarind.

It has been a couple of years since I was at either one. I am more of a meat and potato type of guy. I am sure the change would do me good but I am too old to change bad habits
