View Full Version : My October LOS pictures -- Pattaya to start with...

I've added 70-some pictures to my photo album, for those of you who enjoy seeing them. I had three weeks in LOS in October and - as usual - took a lot of digital images. What interests me most personally are the locals and their day-to-day life there, so if you're looking for temples and the likes you may be a little disappointed.

My short stay in Pattaya was at the beginning of the trip, so it seemed logical to post them first, but I think I liked many from Bangkok better, myself. I'll get to them as time permits. If you have the images sorted by the order they were posted the new pictures start on my album page 10.

If anyone has a reason to object to any of them (i.e. you and/or your "friend special" are in one of the Boyztown pictures) please PM me and I'll remove it immediately.

Thank you for letting us see your great photos. You have captured a lot of the essence of Thailand from a Foreigner's point of view. Here in cold England it's lovely to be reminded of these delights. I think maybe you have a very expensive camera? The depth of focus and night shots are exceptional.

Thanks for photo album. Great variety and very interesting.
Particularly grateful for the Buddha mountain one - I took two of it when I passed on the way to U-Tapao but they failed to come out because the camera memory card became corrupt. Buddha mountain now added to my collection of wallpapers. Thanks again

Thanks for your comments, wowpow and others --

Many people here tell me that I take w-a-a-y too many travel pictures overall, but going through them brings back so many memories - and, like I said, I enjoy the everyday in the lives of others, so I guess I ought to whittle the others down more before posting the next batch(es).

The camera itself is NOT expensive. After being quite happy with what had been a trouble-free (even after dropping it from waist-high four times) and easy-to-use Olympus C-3040 Zoom (3.3MPixels) I finally upgraded to another Olympus, this time the SP500UZ (6.0 MPixels) that I bought on Amazon for less than $300US. It's small enough to fit easily into a fanny pack, light and quick to respond during usage.

The best part of this camera is the 10X zoom, which was a major improvement over the last one with its 3X zoom. It arrived four days before I flew to LOS, so I brought the manual on CD with me and just shot everything on "Full AUTO". The only adjustments I made were to shut off those damned sound effects and tones and to intensify the color saturation just a bit, which gives everything a more vibrant look, rather like the old National Geographics I used to privately thumb through as an adolescent, looking for nearly-naked native men - HA!

Otherwise, other than minor tweaking here and there with Photoshop (which I see you can get at Pantip Plaza or MBK for about $2.00US) the images are just as I took them on the fly, many times just as "point and shoot".

The camera will also take quite acceptable Quicktime movie (.mov) files, up to the limits of the memory card you use, so again, as time permits I'll open a YouTube account and post those there soon.

PS - it looks like the image-adding feature of the forum isn't working at this point... sorry I lost the initial post's image.

At the risk of sounding like I'm promoting a business in LOS, there is another batch of pictures uploaded to my photo album - most of the rest from Pattaya, and the beginnings of the Bangkok stay.

I promise not to renew the thread each time, so save the flicks of the BIC :geek:

It's been over a year since my last trip to Thailand due to the start of a new business. Your pictures put me right back there with the smells, sights and tastes of the land.
Thank You.....simply, Thank You!!!!!
