View Full Version : God-fearing

I'm one of those people who thinks that, on the balance of probabilities, the supernatural explanations, including God, can be ignored. There's an article in this month's Wired that makes interesting reading on that topic. In passing it mentions the gap between believers and non-believers in the supernatural; it's one of the things I find believers just don't get - the gap is so vast that from my side every disagreement over there is about things on the margin, whether it's the "sanctity of life", cartoons about Mohammed and other "blasphemies" (eg. Piss Christ), the morality of homosexual relationships or the alleged differences between George Bush and Osama bin Laden

The article is at http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/14.11/atheism.html

The Church of the Non-Believers
A band of intellectual brothers is mounting a crusade against belief in God. Are they winning converts, or merely preaching to the choir?

Save a click and don't bother. From the title: "non-believers'? How can you NOT believe? That just makes it sound like it does exist but you just don't want to "believe" it. Hmmm. And we have the avowed "atheist" Colonel b4 us. The great Colonel denies the existence of God. Come on, how can you deny the existence of something that you don't already believe exists????

I'm with the Buddhists. What god? Simple as that. The rest is a waste of time.

You don't believe in the supernatural at all? Not even what the Thai Buddhists believe? Doesn't that make you the same as homintern?

adenoids has been on my {Ignore} list ever since he advised his fellow Americans that they were subject to State tax back home even if they are no longer living in the US (they're not)

If giving out spurious information is his main criterion, it's a wonder that Col. Plunker Dunce hasn't ignored 98% of the posters here...

I'll just quote you there BoyG'us as Col Plunket has you on ignore!! Using what criteria I can't imagine :wav:

Yes...but in my case Beryl has me on ignore due to what I know rather than for what I don't...

I'll just quote you there BoyG'us as Col Plunket has you on ignore!!And I would agree with boygeenyus if that were my main criterion. But as I keep saying, I'm only here for the fun, which for the moment is regrettably confined to celebrating Aunty's latest triumphs such as the Ig Nobel Prize http://www.sawatdee-gay-thailand.com/fo ... .php?e=313 (http://www.sawatdee-gay-thailand.com/forum/weblog_entry.php?e=313) or the latest piece of moonlighting as a scriptwriter on the film Borat - http://www.sawatdee-gay-thailand.com/fo ... 3719#93719 (http://www.sawatdee-gay-thailand.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=93719#93719)

Translation: boygeenyus is too smart to provide any "fun" to Col. Klink.

I logged out to see The Lad's response, and my only comment is "Fools are one thing, thorough-going hypocrites are something else". No doubt the next time he thinks he sees me, he can challenge me to a duel :bounce:

I logged out to see The Lad's response

He puts me on ignore, then logs out so he can see what I'm writing. And he calls ME a hypocrite? BWAHAHAHAHA!

and you were...saw him the other night. A few of his one-liners:

"Nice thing about a b.j.: you don't have to let your wife out of the dog cage."

"Women from Kurdistan have genitalia like a wizard's sleeves."

"If you are ever in my country; please stay at my house. You can even sleep with my sister; she is as tight as a man's anus!"

Yes; he could certainly be gathering his material right here--But certainly not from Aunty: way too PC!

The Ocular Degeneration is getting worse, Colonel, that's exact opposite what I said. Think it's time to move up from 3.5 to 4.0?

Or should we just be calling you "Miss Information"?.
