I checked AVIS website and did not see any info about GPS, a navigation system. Do car rental companies in Australia have this ?. Thanks.

Thank you!.

Someone else also recommended RedSpot http://www.redspotrentals.com.au/v2 which also has GPS for rent (A$22 a day). RedSpot rates seem good as no-excess CDW insurance is included.

Came back from Australia a few weeks ago. Redspot did have a satellite navigation system for rent at A$16.95+tax a day. It is TomTom, the same navigation system which I have got and have been using in the UK. That helped a lot, because I did not have to learn how to use it. I found driving in Australia very enjoyable this time.
